Rossi - American born player on Italy U-19

There was a YA thread on him I think....

And the U-19 cap does not rule out his playing for a Nats senior side does it?Was he in a sanctioned tournament?Or does that even matter now?

 

Rossi is still eligible to represent the USA at the senior level.

With the healthy contingent of Americans at Man Utd, it's possible he could strike up a friendship with one of them (like Spector) and decide to switch back.

Well he might have played a game for the u-19's but he is not part of the upcoming UEFA u-19 finals

 

He's graduated from that team.

Unless he bombs (always a possibility of course), from what I've read is that he will play for a national team of his choosing. ManU signed him for first team action, not as an addition to the youth squad. Probably the Azurri, but who knows. At right back, he'd be good competition and probably a decent improvement over Simek and Valentin, but Dolo and Russell might hold the position till 2010 anyway. At striker, he won't replace Adu....is he better than Casey or any of our other youth (EJ, Esky, Weah, Gaven if he plays at fwd?)? I don't really know enough. He's gotta be good for it to be news that he signed with ManU. But Gaven's pretty darn good too.

 

When did he graduate from this team? He was part of the under 17 last year. When did he make this jump? And if he made this jump he would have been part of the new u-21 team, but as far as i know he has not been called into any of those camps. Man Utd are probabley going to send him out on loan i don't think they plan on having play for the first team this year.

March 23 of this year he was part of the u-17 team that played a friendly in Turkey.

He's graduated from the Youth team entirely, I believe. Unlike America, once a youth has signed a professional contract in most European countries, he does not bother playing for the youth teams, which Europe tends not to care that much about. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

I can't tell you that you are wrong, but Huth played for Germany at the U-20's when under contract at Chelsea. Got into first team matches soon after.

 

When was this? Is this recent, after today's move to ManUtd? Do you have a link?

How about he stays healthy and in a future world cup final with us going up against Italy Tim Howard makes a penalty save off Rossi during Golden Goal time then Adu scores the game winner right after.

 

That article nowhere states that he has no desire to play for the US. I've yet to see a link which says the same. Why so much hatred towards him? For all we know, the jury's still out on whether or not he may be a future US senior international. (Unless Treetaliano knows something for which he can't post a link.)

It's simple. He probably just feels it's easier to get onto a national team that has a lower FIFA ranking than the U.S.

Treetaliano supports Everton, Wayne Rooney's current club. He probably already has a list of reasons to hate anything about Manchester United, but Rooney's rumoured transfer to United is probably making it hard for him to sleep at night....

 

Okay, yes, you are wrong. Italy's youth teams are full of professional players. Italy cares very much about their national youth teams. They are the current U-19 and U-21 European champions and will defend their U-19 title beginning next week.

 

Looked up some more info on Rossi at the Italian federation site that IMOX posted info from earlier. I can't link to this, but I did a search on him, and he has had 20 total call-ups, 19 appearances, and 9 goals for the U16 and U17 Italy squads, so I doubt they've dropped interest in him. The reason he has not been called up recently is that the U17 team has been inactive since March, while the U19 team has been busy qualifying and preparing for the European championships. As an '87, he'd be considered too young for the U19s (most of whom are '85s with a couple of '86s - "playing up" is quite rare in the Italian youth setup). The U18s just participated in a friendly tournament in June, but the site doesn't list any line-up info, so I don't know if he took part in that.
