Tillman does not see the pitch against Rangers.

This one bothers me a bit more than Pepi... but maybe he still hasn't fully recovered his explosiveness post injury.?.?

PSV is most deep in the midfield, esp on the "attacking" side. Pepi should have gotten time against Vitesse tho - I thought Luuk looked a bit slow. Maybe feeling his Bday coming on!

It's too bad he didn't make it into the game. I was curious to see what kind of reaction he would get from the Ibrox home crowd since he was quite good for the team (albeit under-appreciated) last season.

He might simply need some time to adjust. He does only have one real season of top-flight play (if Scotland counts as top-flight) under his belt, and PSV isn't exactly in a desperate situation for attackers.

When they showed a closeup of Malik, the response from the crowd was a chorus of boos, which made Malik smile. :p

Dude looks even bigger this year. Kind of looks like a striker. Surely did on that goal. Super physical w/ a class finish.

Get the feeling my dream of him as striker/false 9/10/8 is still alive. Super flexibility.

Yeah, it's a bit less urgent for the US with Balogun coming aboard, but when I watched him with Rangers last year, I kept wondering why he wasn't being groomed as a striker. He can take people on the dribble, he's good in the air, and he's a good finisher. It seems to me like the weakest part of his game is passing in the transition game, which kinda important for a midfielder.

He’s also great in the air.

PSV sign midfielder Gilbert for two years, after impressive training camp
PSV has signed 18-year-old midfielder Dantaye (Dante) Gilbert for two years. Last week he had already been medically inspected and his arrival could already be read through several media. He hails from Trinidad and Tobago and could be signed for a limited transfer fee. Gilbert is the country's youth international and played for San Juan Jabloteh.

Dunno what they're doing in Eindhoven with all those new midfielders signed.

He is one of the (very) few players in the US player pool that is well above average in most aspects of attacking soccer.... Passing, Dribbling, Ball Control, Shielding, Technical Ability. I think the last two traits are generally lacking in a lot of YAs... We don't have a lot of offensive players that can

    1) hold the ball up well
    2) take physical hits and stay on their feet
    3) stay calm and control the ball in tight spaces against multiple defenders

and Tillman does well in all of them.... although I do think he would need to improve a bit at 1) to be an elite striker. But w/ Gio hurt all the time, I am glad we have another young CAM that pops in so many aspects of quality attacking football. In short, while I think he could learn to become a good striker I am beyond happy w/ him continuing to develop as an attacking midfielder. Heck, he even got way better at tackling last season at Rangers. Dude has the highest of ceilings IMO.

Out of the squad today because... he overslept:

At PSV, Malik Tillman had overslept and Peter Bosz was relentless. No place in the selection.

    Wait, what?

The game started at 8 pm over there. If he overslept for the morning practice, why take him on the bus at all?

    Very nice to see.

I wasn't that high on Tillman for awhile but he's really starting to put it together.

So, should Tillman oversleep every other game, every third game, every fourth … ?

That is some dreadful goalkeeping on Malik's goal. Guess I shouldn't be too surprised as it's a newly promoted side currently at the bottom of the table. It's a reminder that while there's certainly more depth and quality in the Dutch league than in Scotland, the bottom sides in the Netherlands aren't much better than those in the Scottish Premiership.

Sorry for the Balogun lineup card. Shouldn't post just before I walk out the door.

    Here's the assist (for real):

Yes, but not sure that anything, but an amazing save would have stopped that.
