My biggest fear - the fear that I dare not have spoken of has happened.

I heard Fractured right tibia. How long does that take to heal. Is he done for the year?

Except for maybe Kreis and Oscar, this is the one player we could not afford to lose. This is gonna suck. We may have a deep midfield, but this is gonna hurt all year. We may not win a game until Oscar gets back now.

I just got my personalized ROB jersey on Friday. I can't sleep. And the rest of the team is playing like they are waiting on someone else to do something. Dammit.

My guess the injury itself will cause him to miss a month and then who knows how long for fitness.

I would expect a broken leg to be a season-ender. If it was Cobi Jones or Brian McBride hacked down, maybe we'd see some kind of league action, but since it's "just" Dallas, I don't. It's bad to see this happen to anyone, but to lose the players that actually have skills and flair to the clumsy, oafish hacks of the league is a huge bummer for all fans of the game.

Let's face it, no one ever flipped over to a DC game because they wanted to see what Kovalenko was doing. Ronnie was a player that fans of the whole league took an interest in. The league just took a large step away from skill and ability and towards brutishness and dullness. Will they do anything about it? I doubt it.

Not only is Ronnie a skillful player, but I think the fans were beginning to have a real connection with him. He was quickly becoming one of my favorite Burn players. He has such unbridled passion that is good for the league. I will truly miss him.

It is really a shame. O'brien had quickly become my favorite player. He is one of a handful of players in this league who was just a joy to watch. His skill on the ball is among the best in the league and he is unpredictable on every play.

This league has so few players with skillon teh ball but so many that just knock players down. Dema is the worst of the lot. Kovalenko is a thug. A criminal without a conviction.

I doubt MLS can do anything - no card of any kind was even issued on the foul. Even if they could, it won't be much.

I'm not even a Dallas fan per se, but I wanted to add my sympathies for O'Brien, Burn fans, and the league as a whole. That was simply an awful, awful challenge. Kovalenko's guilty face after the fact told the whole story. The look of pain on O'Brien's face was, in a word, disturbing. Its a loss for MLS fans everywhere when a skilled player like O'Brien goes down for any reason, and when it happens like it did last night, such a loss is simply tragic. Again, my sincere sympathies and best wishes.

I agree 100%. As a fan, I love to see players with skill on the ball.

Best wishes to Ronnie O'Brien. It was a tragic incident. He seems like a great guy. And he is fun to player to watch. He's skillful and enthusiastic. Hope he gets well soon.

Broken bone is a least 7-8 months injury. The doctor won't allow him to put weight for extra couple months after it is healed. The bone will be tougher than before it breaks.

This is EXACTLY how i feel, so I won't repeat it.

But I would like to add that I've spent time with Ronnie and KNOW what a great guy he is.

He IS my favorite player and he was taken out by the only player in MLS that I think should be banned.

This has been the blackest day of my being a soccer fan, a Burn fan and an contributing Inferno member.

I'm going to speak to Jason personally and ask him to score one just for Ronnie.

It's been a very, very black day.

Have the Burn set up some kind of "Get well, Ronnie" type of thing? I'm not a Burn supporter, but I've always enjoyed his play, and a guy who's been at Juventus and plays as hard as he does in MLS scores bonus points with me. Hope the injury is not as severe as some are speculating.

Maybe you guys can sign Matt McKeon (still available) and get some retribution. ;)

it's weird how fast ROB became probably my favorite player to watch. he is always fun to follow during games and is one of those bright spots in the league that other fans will watch for.
There needs to be a huge banner waiting for him to come back at the rest of the home games. I would gladly pitch in some cash for one.
whatever is done to show support for him, i think we would all help out. any other ideas?

Not a bad idea. "Slap Shot!" was always one of my favorite movies. Maybe the Burn could dig up the soccer equivalent of the Hanson Brothers, Ogie Ogilthorpe, and Tim "Dr Hook" McCracken and give Kovalenko a nice Southlake welcome later this month at Dragon Stadium. :)

Although I'm not a Burn fan, I have followed O'Brien's career for a few years and its tragic this has happened. I hope he gets back soon and be back 100%.

Sorry about O'Brien. I thought Kovalenko should have received a more severe punishment after his Pollard hack but I hope the league sends him away.

Having seen the Burn play 2x this season Ronnie O'Brien was the best thing on the field in both games, and from what I heard the same could be said for the Revs game.

He was my favorite Burn player, and also one of my favorite players in the league to watch. Lets pray for a speedy recovery.

I watched the matcgh here in Los Angeles, and I knew that Ronnie was no wimp... so when I saw him howl in agony with tears flowing, it ripped my guts apart.

I now know he's out for 6 to 10 months... and that makes me feel even worse. I was truly looking forward to watching him at the new HDC.

My thoughts are with you, ROB.

PS: Oh yeah, ****************** YOU KOVALENKO!!! I SAW YOUR SHEEPISH FACE WHEN YOU REALIZED WHAT YOU HAD DONE!!!

Seeing all the ups and downs Ronnie O'Brien has had to deal with in his career to date (Juventus, Middlesbrough, etc.), and seeing that he had been making a good name for himself in MLS and in Dallas in particular, it's a damned shame to see this happen to such a skillful and talented player.

Hope he gets well ahead of schedule. Broken bones in the leg are very difficult to recover from.

I'll tell you - I haven't been more disappointed in anything concerning MLS than this injury.

    It just makes me ill.

Its like the wind has been knocked out of me for this season. He's the one player on this team who I wanted to see a full season of.

This stuff sickens me not just for selfish reasons about him helping the team, etc...but to see a guy who always gave his best effort, by all accounts a real good guy, just exciting to watch taken down by a half-talent, mouth-breathing goon who doesn't even give a rats ass.

I hope Ronnie O comes back next year better than ever.

Having followed him since Boro and our underage teams, I think it's a massive pity that he's been chopped down like this just as he was finally getting the regular football he deserves. I knew that he was popular in Dallas, but I hadn't realised just how well regarded he was in the MLS in general. Here's hoping for a swift recovery.
