Frank Arnesen's former protege Ronaldo has backed the Dane to be a big hit in his new role as sporting director at Spurs - and hinted he may now fancy a move to White Hart Lane himself.

Even with my excitable nature, this one didn't phase me. I'm sure Arnesen is a hell of a guy, but Tottenham?

Yeah, I saw this too. I think this is more of a "English media getting excited over Ronaldo complimenting someone" type of thing than an actual transfer idea: Ronaldo was just being polite by saying he admires the English game and could see himself playing there. I don't think Ronaldo is going anywhere for a while, and if he does, it will be to ManU or Chelsea, not a UEFA Cup challenged team. Every time I hear a rumor about him moving, it reminds me how great it is to have him on Real.

They couldn't afford the guy in any way, shape or form. Not only you have to give him a stelar salary of at least 10mill/year, you have to make sure he will sell, nike will be happy....Real is the best he can do, in England only MU could do it. Chelsea could pay him well, but as of yet, would not give him the commercial environment he wants. Ronaldo makes more money outside the field than inside, as only a few top players do. Ronaldo was just trying to give some credit to the Spurs, do them a favor so others see them as a valid club.

    This is what ronaldo said....

"I've often said I want to play in England and that remains the case.

'Frank going to Tottenham makes me think of England again and it would be ideal to work under him. He is the man who discovered me and has been like a father to me since. "

This is exactly why I can’t stand this fu*k!! Throw him like the piece of trash that he is, am sure the English will love him.
Bring players that want to play in Spain, ohh and especially in Madrid...Piece of crap!

    Exactly...

minuscapita...chill a bit bro. You know Ronaldo is the best striker in football when in shape...Real would never casually toss a player like him even if Ronaldo did want to leave which, I'm sure, he doesn't. Real and La Liga are his most perfect stage (in the theatrical sense).

It’s kinda hard to chill when we had one of the worst seasons last year! And then you hear this zucchini saying he wants to go to England!!
I really can’t wait for him to leave, since we brought him the team has been going down the hill.

C'mon, Ronaldo scored 24 goals, and playing recently with Brazil he has shown he is the best in the world. He said what he said to praise a friend and help him in his new team, that's all. Real has the best player in the world, nobody can want Ronaldo out of the team, it's just crazy. I understand you being pissed off, we all are a bit, but it makes no sense. Just wait until next season starts, I am sure you'll have nothing to say against Ronaldo.

The Pichichi had the worst season? How can that be?

No, his quote only showed me that he is a good PR guy. He is not some prima donna liked Romario or Edmundo.

Ronaldo was the savior for Real Madrid last season. I cannot blame him for anything last season.

I think we should all stop reacting to minuscapita's tirades against Ronaldo, we just end up repeating the same arguments again and again. He's not going to be persuaded by anything anyone says, and will flaunt one statistic all the time (no. of Champion's League goals last year) to insist Moro is a better striker than Ronaldo, and Ronaldo is the reason for our failures, while refusing to accept any other statistics (Pichichi, Scoring rate, international record, the fact that we sucked lemons whenever Ronaldo did not play, that raul was far worse than Ronaldo last year).
Ronaldo is Mr.PR sometimes, and this is just a PR statement. The only way he would play at Spurs is at age 34.

ronaldo clearly likes and repects frank arnesen. and he paid him a nice compliment with these comments. nothing more.

not even tottenham fans are reading anything into this. and believe me, translating the odd comment into a prospective transfer to white hart lane is something at which we particulary excell.

    this is a total non-issue.

Exactly, nothing will convince me till we win something....anything....I am happy with a Copa Del Rey at this pathetic point!!!!
Till then Ronaldo is an overpriced fat boy that is now skinny because he spent the off season watching Queer eye for the straight guy or what ever it’s called.
Pichichi Michichi, I don’t give 2 sh!ts and a fock if its not translated into trophies and if u want to compare El Moro with him, El Moro was much better the last season, remember he played for an unknown weak team and still was the top scorer of the champion league. (AND NOT RONALDO)

So keep saying Pichichi every time someone questions Ronald’s play (we won nothin, what is this good for then?) !!! You guys are worse than Bush's supporters!! You get called a terrorist just for questioning his polices.

It’s just an opinion and you don’t have to get all offended by it!!

Just a confirmation in English that instead of the 1-year extension option that was in the contract, both Madrid and Ronaldo have decided to extend his contract by 2 years to 2008. This should end all rumours of Ronaldo being uncommitted or the club being unhappy with his attitude.
At the end of the day, it's like Shumacher and Ferrari, the greatest star in the greatest team.

Exactly our point. You blame Ronaldo for the team's failures when the reson we lost was no defence, no defensive midfield, lousy coach, exhaustion because of lack of squad depth and rotation. Ronaldo, Figo, Meija and cassillas were the only bright spots. Yet you insist on blaming Ronaldo.

By the way, Monaco won nothing either. So if the Pichichi means nothing, neither should the Champs League top scorer considering Monaco did not win the Champs League like we did not win the Spanish league.

Finally, stop acting as though Ronaldo has won us nothing. He won us a league in his first season here. And his whole career has been about winning, with a world cup to top it off.

Let me say this one last time, stop blaming one player for a team's collective failure. And don't be absurd enough to insist that Moro is better than Ronaldo, whem Moro himself said that he did not know if he had a future in Madrid since Ronaldo is the world's best forward and Moro does not want to sit on the bench.

    From the article linked above:

Basically, the article is making the assumption that by saying "he will think about the subject" he will be leaving, which is a stretch. Regardless, I think it is pretty much assured that Ronnie won't leave in the near future.

And implying that I am trying to stop you from badmouthing Ronaldo is patently false. Say what you want about Ronaldo, but you haven't said anything about what he's bad at, what Moro would do better, etc. You just repeat that we haven't won anything with Ronaldo, which must mean LaLiga his first year is nothing. Like anirbanblah said, what did Morientes win last year? Nothing. Ronaldo is better in every way (except in the air) than Morientes, and I think Morientes would admit that.
