I think the title says it all. What do they viewers and real fans of Brazil and Brazillians think.

I think Kaka is a better finisher and passer, but Ronalinho has more technique, tricks, and vision. I enjoy both players very much, however I might be biased as I support Barça.

What does everyone think of all the Brazillians at Barça?

    ronaldinho is the better everything.

    doesn't even merit discussion.

ronaldinho was responsible for countless goals in 2002, even though he himself didn't score many.

ronaldinho's invaluable to the team right now.

Comparing Kaka to Ronaldo is comparing Andy Warhol to DaVinci.

True enough but look at the many things that DaVinci originated. Warhol's not on that level. I'd take DaVinci every time, of course it's a privilege to have that choice eh?

I beleive the players are spectacular in their own way. I cant compare really... However to be honest I think Ronaldinho is best. Even tho I love kaka!

Ronaldinho, when he is on his game, can carry a team on his back if necassary.
Kaka is good, but the really big Brazilian prospect is Robinho.

I agree that Ronaldinho is better, but don't undervalue Kaka. He is a much more natural goal scorer, he is faster (yes, he is), and he shoots better than 80% of players in the world including Ronaldinho. Ronaldinho brings vision, technique and the ability to beat players, Kaka doesn't play that way. More or less its a question of what type of player do you want to run the team a Zidane (technical, brainy) or a Nedved (powerful, dynamic). You can't lose either way.

Kaka isn't even in the same league as Ronaldinho. Nothing against Kaka but in my mind Ronaldinho is the best player in the world.

i think kaka beats ronnie when it comes to scoring and only in that aspect, however that could be due to mentality and not skills.

oh and robinho is not the really big brazilian prospect.

    Are you kidding?

The truth is that Kaka is only half the player that Ronaldinho is. That still makes him better than most of the "stars" out there though.

You've saved me the time to respond to the initial question. Nice description of their strengths.

Kaka is the embodiement of footballing grace and efficiency; Dinho is footballing genius and unpredictability.

You combine both and you have Pele.

CAP will be busy trying to figure out how to get the best out of both for Selecao. Nice problem to have.....

    Ronaldinho ... eyes closed.

Kaka is a great player, and young, but we have seen his best surrounded by a great football team in Milan. Ronaldinho carried Barza with Davids watching his back.

Brasil can field Kaka, Ronaldinho, Ronaldo and Adriano. It's about playing a 3-5-2.

Ronaldinho and Kaka' are both extraordinary, though very different. One thing no one has pointed out yet is the age difference between the two. Kaka is still very young while Ronaldinho is more established. Either way, when I think about the players that make me love the game (who are currently playing), these guys are always 2 of the top 3 that come to my mind first...
What a luxury for one team to have these two! It would be a sin for them not to play together, so CAP really needs to earn his money on this one.

  18. not criticising you but you sound like the age difference is that vast!infact only 2 years seperates them but i know 2 years can be a long time in football..Ronaldinho was born in '80 and Kaka in '82....

If only it was that easy. CAP and Zagallo are proponents of a 4 man backline, so the following discussion might be moot…

The problem lies in the fundamental nature of Kaka’s and Ronadinho’s play – they both are most effective playing further up-field, on the shoulders of the striker(s). As regular 2 way midfielders they would be less effective than the players now doing the job.

A 3-5-2 in, order to guarantee Kaka/Dinho/Adriano/Ronaldo, would potentially look like this:

    3-5-2 Formation

    ------------------Lucio-------------Edmilson----------------Juan----------

    Cafu---------------Kaka-----------G.Silva--------Ronaldinho-------R.Carlos

    -----------------------------Ronaldo--------------Adriano-----------------

No matter how they are positioned on paper, it will not change the fundamental dynamics of the players. Kaka and Ronaldinho will not play deep in their own territory (they will naturally drift upfield), nor will they cover Cafu and R.Carlos’ attacking on the wings. Ronaldinho can't tackle without fouling, and Kaka is not great at it either. Anyway, if they tried to be two-way players it would be self defeating, as they would loose their potency (the reason we are trying to accommodate them on the team in the first place).

The evolution of the WC 2002 provides a good case study. In the first two games the scheme was.

    Initial WC 2002 Formation

    ----------Lucio------------------Edmislon-----------------Roque---------

    Cafu------------Juninho Paulista-----------G.Silva-------------R.Carlos---

    ------------------Ronaldinho---------------------Rivaldo-----------------

    ----------------------------------Ronaldo-------------------------------

This initial formation is remarkably similar to what is being proposed, with Juninho Paulista in the Kaka spot. It helps in the analysis that J. Paulista is also a Kaka type of midfielder (in the sense that his forte isn’t in the deep lying position, but in attacking goal next to the strikers). What happened?

Felipao had to abandon this formation rather quickly as he, and everyone else, saw that during the game a gaping hole existed in the midfield, and transition between Defense and Offense was not coherent. He then sacrificed a more offensive minded Juninho for a two-way midfielder in Kleberson.

This noticeably helped in closing the gap between defense and offense (although I still felt that R.Carlos often had to return to being a fourth defender, thus limiting his wing play). Kleberson still had to cover a lot of ground in the center of the park (since G.Silva stayed effectively stayed home, especially to cover Cafu), but was able to provide a sense of transition that previously was lacking.

By going with a 3-5-2 formation that forces the inclusion of all of Kaka/Dinho/Adriano/Ronaldo, we’d be going back to a system (Initial WC 2002 Formation) that was already proved problematic.
