    I'm just sayin'...

A friend at a top club in Germany who's pretty clued in claims he's heard MLS has made an inquiry for Romario. He's got no idea if it was on behalf of Metro.

Just thought I'd throw the (possibly false) rumor du jour out there.

Does Romario have any natural bones remaining in his legs? He'll be 37 next season.

    That's relatively young, says Nick.

He would be a big draw for MLS and still scores goals in bunches. He is now playing for Flamengo's derby rival Flumenense and might not be that expensive to obtain. I also wonder about Petkovic. One of the best #10s and free kick takers in Brazil. He was sold by Flamengo and now plays for a Sao Paolo club.

    Compared to who, George Best?

By the way, Best said that he too would be available as long as the league allowed him to wear a colostomy bag on the field.

he'd still contribute more than Lothar ever did.....

Romario?!?!? what the hell, let's get Leonardo and we can say we had 1/3 of the 94 Cup winning Brazilian National team....

But will he punch one of his teammates on the field in the middle of the game?

Depending on who it is, that could be really entertaining.

    Petkovic is an interesting option.

If Metros/MLS really want to break the bank, they could always try for Man U's Keane

    Somewhere or other
Petkovic doesn't sound like a bad idea.

Doesn't seem likely, given finances, but... he's a head case, so he'd fit right in. Is it too late to cancel Diallo's transfer? Those two would make for some good crazy player unintentional comedy.

Romario would be an older version of Diallo. I like the idea, but having players complain ALL the time because they aren't given beyond super-star status, is not worth it for a club that really needs to win a championship.

The idea of getting Romario is interesting. Despite the fact that he is old, he is still a great player, and scored tons. In fact most of Brazil was screaming for him to be included in the WC team this past summer (because they felt the team needed his scoring, not just as a "nice gesture"). The reason he was left off the team (and why we shouldn't bring him to ours) is because he is a headcase. Very full of himself (arguably with reason). Would tear the team apart in my opinion. Don't think he would be as bad on the field as Lothar was because I think in the end, with his pride, he'll play, and his skill is still there, but he won't get along with anyone else on the team. Better to not try him imho.
