Wow, talking about taking this to the next level. Is France going to suspend travel visas for Argentinians now and vice versa?

Well we know now that Messi was not on the bus, he was getting hospital treatment elsewhere. Although, i would still say that he has participated in signing this song at some point. This was not the first time the 'Argie' lads sung this song. Also Enzo was not singing this on his own. There are a lot of other players that need to be held accountable.

They won't be kicked out of the World Cup. That is not how FIFA do things.

Now MacAllister has just put his foot in it.

Hey, I am not accusing you of anything. But do you know where the term "argies" derives from?

Yes, I used the term during my military time in the Falklands. Liberating the islands from a hostile invasion.

"Argies" is the pejorative apocope for "Argentine", expression extensively used by the British soldiers during the Falklands War.

Much how the US used a shorten version of Japanese during WW2 to rouse up patriotism and dehumanize the opponent. And the reason the British tabloids created "argies" is to make an association to Nazis (same sound). And I am sure that you don't care that it is pejorative. Whereas in the US a reasonable person would not use the term "Ja$" because it is offensive, but for some reason its ok to use the term argies. Nobody cares.

This is more about pearl clutching. I mean, 41% of the French voted for LePen who pretty much says the same thing. And if 41% of them support it, is it really offensive to the French?

This all started with Mbappe put his foot in his mouth and said that because South American football is inferior to European football, winning the Euro is more prestigious. And predictably the SA lost their sh#t and created this song. And yes, it is offensive, that's why I wouldn't sign it. But that doesn't matter because people just want heads to role; its mob mentality.

There’s racism in France so how dare they be offended by racism?

Mbappe said mean things about our style of football, so they’re justified in being racist? Because he asked for it?

I’m struggling to see the defense here.

Also, I would watch 1,000 Euros games over another CONEMBOL slugfest. I’m American with English/Irish/Baltic roots, if you’re looking for material.

Overall what you are saying is absurd and ridiculous. Your defence of racism has been duly noted and I clearly understand where you are coming from.

To clarify: It is a racist chant/song. It is a known racist chant/song amongst the Argentinian fans. Racism is not different in different countries. Enzo is not saying that this song is not racist – he knows that it is. Everybody knows that it is. It is a racist song/chant and he has apologised. He apologised because it is an offensive and racist song.

There are other players who should be apologizing. He was not singing that on his own.

Is Enzo a racist? We do not know as we do not know him. My guess is that in all honesty he is not. Ignorant and totally stupid, but unlikely to be a racist. He did a really stupid thing. He apologised. People make mistakes. He made a mistake.

The fact that Argentine politicians are defending this is no surprise to me, I'm sick of their constant Falklands rhetoric and the fact that a country made up of European colonisers trying to sit on their 'high horses' by continually harping on about 'other' countries HISTORICAL colonising past is the most hypocritical thing I've ever heard!!

A section of Argentinians are vile creatures hiding behind the mask of being oppressed and their so called politicians are a disgrace.

I'm REALLY fuming over this and as far as I'm concerned Fernandez can f*ck off.

Maybe he should. I am not sure how his reconciliation with our black players is going to happen. How will Maresca handle this situation? IF there is disharmony in the dressing room due to Enzo, then Enzo can leave. I would love to be a fly on the wall in the dressing room when the 'talk' happens. Maybe someone can live stream it?

You started the post by disagreeing with me, but at the end you ended up exactly where I am. . . so, I'll take it.

Enzo was at Riverplate over weekend apparently and the Argentinian fans sang their racist song again. Enzo has really bad advisors he should have kept his head down and stayed away from the spotlight.

Maresca: "I don't think there will be problems with Enzo Fernandez when he returns. There were no bad intentions, I spoke with Enzo. It's all clear now". "It's all clarified by the player and the club, so that's it". "Enzo has apologised, there's no problem at all".

I thought James’ statement/response was better. He similarly tried to calm it resolved, but was clear about the fact that those and ongoing conversations are internal matters.

We now support the kind of club where the fans do not like the current owners. . .

My three biggest pet-peeves in football:
    1. Players crowding around to argue with the ref. He’s not changing the call. What are you even doing?
    2. Players grabbing the ball for a penalty. Oh sure, first come, first served is a logical strategy. Did you call dibs? Cool, it’s you then.
    3. Players grabbing the wrong body part, when they’re “injured.” How do you live with yourself when you know there are 1,000 camera angles and people are going to know you’re full of crap?!

Thx. funny, first I looked at World talk, and then at live soccer, then Fotmob but it was not showing or I did not see or find on any at the time and being thick it took me a few ticks just to goggle it.

btw - Chelsea are seeking Euro Conference Glory - hardly recognise any of the teams competing for this prestigious trophy

Chelsea FC (ENG) vs SC Braga (POR) / Servette FC (SUI)
