    Well,

Whats next for Romania? After a somewhat successful start to the WC 06 campaign they get hit with their captain being basically out for who nows how long? I don't think its a two year ban and I hope its not. I just hope the FA has mercy on him and only deals him out for months and at most a year. I will be satisfied if he can be back by Feburary and have a month to prepare for the Holland game. But the sad thing is the game in is March which is six months away and if they give him only a six month ban it wont be time for Mutu to come back. This has been the biggest dissapointment for me all year in football. Just when I thought Romania can bounce back and make it, their captain of all people goes and screws up  Mutu is a sellout and I no longer stand up for him until he is clean. I hope hes not out for a long time because Romania needs him desperately. Romania needs to put this behind them and get their youth to stand up and pick it up.

I haven't been very impressed with Mutu lately, so I don't think we need to give up our hope for Romania in WCQ. Hey there is plenty of Romanian talent other than Mutu. I've always been a fan of Flavius Stoican on Shakhtar. It's unfortunate to say but if Hagi was the Maradona of the Carpathians, then Mutu must be the Beckham of the Carpathians. A man full of promise but mired in controversy.

Romania is so weak compared to the 1990 team..... I think only Lucescu can bring them back, he can make a team no matter if they have stars or not. With politicians as coaches, I don't think so....

Their lineup for Armenia is weak not their team right now if thats what you mean. Romania is full of injuries and bans for this game. Romania has a lineup full of young talent that is starting to show. If their stars can stay consistant with their clubs and stay injury free which is hard, they are the top team in eastern europe and in the top 10 european teams.

    Re: Romanian National Team

Mutu and Chivu are their leaders, and they are way behind the most talented players in Europe. They are overrated, especially by Romanian supporters. In addition, Mutu has some other problems.....

They are under rated and will prove they are one of europe's best and even though our our top player is out for a while does not mean we are no good because we are still a good team.

    Re: Romanian National Team

Half of the FRF should resign, includes Iordanescu, and Sandu
    old order, old mentality…OUT

Yes ! I also agree that most players are way overrated !
The Romanian technical style is one of the best, but it takes
11 player on the same page ala 1994 dream team, and even
then, just the Romanian “specific” mentality kept the team
from possibly winning the world cup.
One thing I would take out of the current “style” is Iordanescu,
half of the players, and Iordanescu’s 1 goal to 0 …and hold… IDEA,
is has been murder on the performance, and it got trickled down to the
Romanian club teams … and they suffer the same faith as the
    national team, poor results.
The new generations is talented, but they have to realize that
they are not as good as they think they are ...but ! hard
work will get them in the spotlight. They need to change
their mentality and attitude, to a winning one, and that
needs to be done by a proper coach, and a overhauled FRF.

I would say Piturca, would be a good coach, possibly Lucescu..
Even that would be patch work, the qualifying, is sort of dead..
unless they depend on Dutch, and Checks to fail along the
way, witch I hardly believe.. or miracles !! or luck !! :)

    Re: Romanian National Team

I think Romania will not qualify for WC 2006. I can't beleive they wanted to put Mutu as an assistant coach. Did they want him as a good example, or as a bad one? No wonder they lost 2 points. They need to put that guy aside if they want to make some improvements.... Otherwise Romanian team will be at the bottom of the soccer world for a long time.... Piti is right: the team doesn't stand on 1-2 players, it's about 11 players that make a team. That doesn't mean he's the next NT coach... But that is the right attitude.

MUTU as Assist. Coach: Dumb Idea.
I think Romania could still make it, but the chances right now are not that good IMO.

PS: Where the heck is Stelea? Still in Salamanca?

For the good of Romanian soccer (or football, whatever), I want Lucescu as NT Coach. He's gonna find good players, and make them great players.

I like Lucescu they need someone with good experience to get them on the right track for having a decent chance at qualifing. But how about Petrescu?

    Re: Romanian National Team

My opinion: Petrescu is too young for that responsibility. But, for now, looks like we'll lose another qualifying opportunity, they will put Piturca. Not the best choice, not the worst one.

I think it would be great to see the Romanian national team vs Mexicos B team with some exceptions I think that would be a great game because of the caliper of the players! what do you guys think? We have a friendly with Swedan coming up but it will be Mexicos B squad vs Swedans local players that play in the scandanavian teams! So no Ivrhembrich or Larsson ot Lumbourx or something like that!

Stelea plays now for Dinamo Bucharest. It's the club where he began his career.

I thought I'd let you know that Vio Ganea is well on the road to recovery. He played a training match recently, although the other players avoided any contact with him. It's possible that he may be back in action in the next few months.
