Actually, I was just about to ask Cassano why he's doing a
'Great Player' thread for Nicola Berti . . .

LOL, I once suggested changing the thread title to "Really Good Players" thread, but with Berti I'm thinking it ought to be "Okay players who had a couple of good seasons". :D

    But again, we're off-topic.

Berti's facial expressions were great. He almost rivals Toto
Schillaci for best "You're not possibly saying that ref!"
face; a real master of indignant reaction.

As a player? Hmmmm. Even my Azzurri-loving heart goes
cold at the mention of Nicola Berti.

To get back on topic ;) . . . perhaps we have to wait for
news on Roma's appeal. I don't see that there are substantial
disagreements about the facts of the case on this board.

I'm of the strong opinion that in the background of all this as usual is the scum bag moggi....who knows what political strings juve is pulling in order to have roma's transfer market banned and so that cassano goes to no one else and doesn't resign so that next year they get him on a free...its out there...but i would never put it past them!

Hey, people are suggesting these players to me. I just do what the people want! :D

By the way, feel free to suggest a player... ;)

Yes, Berti was the epitome of a whiner....and wow how this thread got off-topic. Can we start an "Italian Rivalry Thread" to put these posts there?

Moggi does not always play well with others, and it was only a matter of time before a conspiracy theory involving him surfaced about this harsh penalty. I'm still waiting for the whole story to come out on this one. In the meantime, I'll just sit back and be entertained by my friends Dante and Sempre. :)

LOL. That's right. Me and Dante are actually thinking of doing
    a 2-man show on Broadway . . . We'll get nicephoras to represent
us (shady lawyer that he is). Calcio fans everywhere will be
    in stitches . . .

Hate to say it, but it sure looks like it. Roma is in a very bad situation. Who is going to make a good offer for Cassano now? Juventus just waits and gets him free. Perhaps, Real Madrid will make their bid in August and loan him to Roma for a year as has been rumoured, just to make sure he does not go to Juventus. These 2 clubs are perennial CL rivals.

I thought it had been announced that a decision on Roma's appeal would come out this week. Any news on this? I haven't seen anything.

If nobody does grab Cassano, Roma will have to try to sell him in January. I could see a club buying him in January, and letting him stay at Roma until June. But it all depends on what happens with the appeal.

yea but we'll never get the same money or compensation in january as we will now...and don't forget we are banned for the jan market too...we're screwed...i guarantee moggi is behind it. and if his son becomes a board member of roma you will see the entire curva sud explode in a fury that will probably rock the entire league....

This turns out to be very unjust, Dante.

I've found out after a bit of research that Duck Manson
actually gets his rep by being on a thread called "Rep Whores
Unite." What it is is a bunch of dudes trading pictures of hot
chicks and giving each other rep for it.

It clarifies a lot of things in my mind because for a long
time I couldn't understand how someone like Jawz, who
is intelligent, had fewer squares than Duck, who is not
intelligent. The answer is that Jawz is not a rep whore.
    Duck is.

So I'm not going to worry about Duck anymore. His opinion
is worthless (unless the topic is Beyonce, of course) . . .

Back on topic...I've heard and read enough chatter to expect a lessening or reversal of FIFA's penalty of Roma by TAS no later than tomorrow (Tuesday, 12 July).

Here's a rumour of Capello wanting Cassano, Mancini and Panucci. The top 3 players being offered are Mutu, Chiellini and Mozart, though Miccoli, Maresca, Blasi and Birendelli are also in the discussions. I put this here because it looks like the appeal will be decided soon and Juve expects it to be decided in Roma's favor. Funny, how Juventus knows these things.

So where in the article does it state that Juve expects it to be decided in Roma's favor? You're implying something from nothing.

Then again, perhaps Juve expects it to be overturned because everyone else does.

"The Juve-Roma mega-swap deal hinges on the Giallorossi’s successfully appealing their transfer embargo imposed by FIFA for the transfer of Philippe Mexes last season" this part here because if this article is true it means that juve expects it to be overturned completely rather than reduced

Everybody expects it to be overturned... anyways, Juve was working on a deal with Roma before the ban was placed.

Like many Roma fans I would not be heart-broken to see
Mancini or Panucci go. Panucci, especially, has been poor
for us. And adding Chiellini to the roster would be excellent.

But if Cassano leaves it will be a blow. Not from the angle
of winning/ losing, but from the aesthetic angle. The duo
of Totti and Cassano often did things with the ball that
you had to rewind and watch again and again. In fact I
think they were often too flamboyant . . . That duet they
nearly pulled of vs. Reggina is one of my favorite memories
of last season. One of the only good memories of last season,
    now that I think about it . . .

There are rumours that the transfer ban is lifted and it will be officially announced within 48 hours. It could be true as taddei and nonda trained with roma today!!!
