Just so this doesnt get buried in the MLS Matchday thread. http://www.engadget.com/2011/07/19/roku-2-hd-xd-and-xs-officially-launch-same-price-smaller-siz/ {mod note: multiple posters have attested that it is currently an operating channel on the original Roku box, but isn't listed in the Roku 2 channel store as of yet}
Re: Roku 2 supports MLS Matchday Wow! Thanks so much for this! Was literally going to purchase a Roku today through Amazon after I got done checking BS. Now I'm gonna wait til they get the XS. And so glad that MLS will finally be available.
Re: Roku 2 supports MLS Matchday Great News. I hope they add this functionality to Apple Tv soon. Airplay from an Ipad works but is kind of spotty. If Apple TV can have MLB and NBA why not MLS too.
Re: Roku 2 supports MLS Matchday agreed. I haven't had much issue with the iPad app, but a native one would be appreciated.
Re: Roku 2 supports MLS Matchday This is great news! Funny since I just asked about this in the MDL thread.
Re: Roku 2 supports MLS Matchday Especially iff the video is of better quality. The NBA app on Apple TV looks amazing.
Re: Roku 2 supports MLS Matchday That's good news. I bought a Roku a couple months ago, and love it, but really wanted MDL I hooked my TV up to a PC not too long ago to watch MDL, and the result didn't work out that well for me.
Re: Roku 2 supports MLS Matchday We are seriously considering cutting the cable entirely at my house and this is a great development. Is it possible to work around the local blackout restrictions?
Re: Roku 2 supports MLS Matchday At least with a computer, yes, no idea about roku. PM me and Ill let you know how.
Re: Roku 2 supports MLS Matchday If it involves the use of proxies, I doubt it would work with the Roku.
Re: Roku 2 supports MLS Matchday for some reason I seem to remember the interface having a proxy field when I looked the other day, but I could be totally off.
Re: Roku 2 supports MLS Matchday Channel is available (even on the original Roku like I have). Works great. Full archives, hilights, and condensed games. Quality IMHO is better than the web version, though I only watched around 10 minutes of a match.
Re: Roku 2 supports MLS Matchday I agree with everything you said, and please mods change the title to just Roku and I don't have a Roku 2.
Re: Roku 2 supports MLS Matchday Is there a big difference or even any difference at all between MDL and Direct Kick?
Re: Roku 2 supports MLS Matchday Okay, I am now very intrigued by all this. It looks like all the league sports packages can be accessed (save for the NFL, no loss there), and you don't have to worry about a game not being shown because Dish Network doesn't want to air a game (as I posted in another thread in the TV section) on a network that they have a carriage dispute with, even if it is part of a paid subscription plan. That and they are on demand, unlike DK or Center Ice. Are there any negatives to this that anybody can enlighten me on? If not, I think it is going on my Christmas list.
Re: Roku 2 supports MLS Matchday Direct Kick you can watch games in Full 1080 HD and no buffering issues
Re: Roku 2 supports MLS Matchday From the little bit I watched quality seemed higher, have to wait and see how it is during live games though. Anyone else not able to watch recent live games? Looks like the only way to watch a game that has already been played is to wait for the archive, as compared to online where you can select recently played games.
Re: Roku 2 supports MLS Matchday Fwiw, (I haven't gotten a chance to test MDL on my box since I'm not currently at home), Roku has cut way, way down on any buffering problems as compared to watching on a PC.
Re: Roku 2 supports MLS Matchday Just added the channel on my Roku Box. It is great for highlights so far but I wish I could watch the other MLSSoccer.com content. I'm glad it was added, finally!
Re: Roku 2 supports MLS Matchday Did you install the channel or is it simply not available in the channel store?
