We are Real Salt Lake's only independent multi-ethnic supporters club in the tradition of the great supporters clubs of Europe and South America . We have been called “the best fans in the stadium”. Our foes have called us “scary”, “childish” and “immature”. We always strive to give more than we did the week before in support of our team. If you are familiar with international soccer and want to be part of a group that seeks to recreate the vibrant atmosphere of international soccer for Real Salt Lake , please look at the sign up section of the web site at www.cavaliersbrigade.com RCB. Not your grandfathers supporters club.
Re: Rogue Cavaliers Brigade Rogue Cavaliers Brigade- The scarf order was placed and paid for this morning. They will probably arrive near the end of July. More details as they are available. The design is as follows (with Black, Red, and Gold fringe): Our design committee is now finishing up the t-shirt designs and we will be in a position to place that order shortly. The turn-around time for the t-shirt order, once it is placed, will likely be be somewhat quicker than the scarves. __________________ What are people saying about the Rogue Cavaliers Brigade? "I think the RCB are the best fans we have in the stadium, and I think their group is awesome!" - Czar Jake, co-founder of The Loyalists "If I ever have to go to their site again for any reason I think I'll hang myself." - Sean, forum moderator of realsaltlake.org/forums
Re: Rogue Cavaliers Brigade -T-shirt designs are nearly ready. As soon as the design team is finished with some final tweaking of the design we will place the orders. I suspect that the t-shirt order may be in our hands before the scarves, depending on how soon we place the order. A very rough mock-up follows: -We went live with our website before the weekend, as you are probably aware. Our first round of membership recruiting was wildly successful. Membership info is available on the website. -Our Articles of Incorporation as a State of Utah nonprofit have been filed, and we are waiting on a tax ID number. The articles required a governing board be named, but we will very shortly have an election for offices and officers and voting on a number of policy items. -We have a number of things in the works regarding interactions and relationships with like-minded supporters clubs for other MLS teams. More info to follow as this becomes more concrete. -We currently plan on having at least one, if not several, representatives present at the Supporters Summit in the Dallas area on November 12th, the day before the MLS cup.
Re: Rogue Cavaliers Brigade 'Vae victis', means 'Woe to the vanquished', and, if tradition serves us correctly, said by a Gallic chief (Brennus, IIRC) at the sack of Rome. They were offended by the dirty conditions of the city they demand a ransome to leave the Romans alone. Brennus demanded his weight in gold and when the Romans complain he throws his sword on the scales to be weighed as well with the cry "VAE VICTUS" - (Woe to the Vanquished). http://www.gallica.co.uk/celts/timeline.htm
Re: Rogue Cavaliers Brigade I am confused, there were close to 20 posts on this thread. Where did they all go?
Re: Rogue Cavaliers Brigade At the request of the thread author, I cleaned up this thread with my big moderator broom. The remainder of this thread may still be found in the recycle bin.
Re: Rogue Cavaliers Brigade Um, I don't mean to sound all Monty-Python's-Life-of-Brian here, but shouldn't it be "Victis," instead of "Victus?" Everything I've found online quotes Brennus as saying "Victis," and every Latin-to-English translator I've found defines "victus" as "food or nourishment." You don't really want to be yelling "Woe to food," do you? I'm just sayin'.
Re: Rogue Cavaliers Brigade When we did our research, we found two different spellings. We determined that it should be "victis" if you are talking to an individual. However, one would use the plural "victus" when speaking to or of more than one person.
Re: Rogue Cavaliers Brigade I did a google search and never ran into that problem 2. Vae Victus A Goth or Celt leader who once conquered Rome even though being outnumbered, imortalized the Latin word meaning “woe unto the conquered” or “suffering to the conquered,” Raiding Celtic tribes under the leadership of Brennus ravage Rome and occupy the city for three months. Offended by the dirty conditions of the city they demand a ransome to leave the Romans alone. Brennus demands his weight in gold and when the Romans complain that the scales they are using are innaccurate he throws his sword on the scales to be weighed as well with the cry "VAE VICTUS" - (Woe to the Vanquished). Vae Victus Latin for "Suffering to the Conquered I am pretty sure that it is correct
Re: Rogue Cavaliers Brigade Just an update...we received the scarves today and will be distributing them to those who have paid for them at the match on Saturday vs. the cheetos or at the first official meeting of the RCB on Friday night at the Republican.
