    Faria???

Any word on when Faria will show up in camp? I heard he has a visa problem or something along those lines. Any chance of him not playing this season?

Your team is probably better off without him.

I suspect that once carnival is over this Tuesday, his visa problem will magically clear up.

I don't know. Once you've sprained your visa, it becomes one of those nagging injuries that you just can't shake. :)

He better get is ass here soon, he needs to start practicing with he team mates. We are going to need him to be fit for start of the season, he's going to be the go to forward for the first three games because of Razov's 3 game suspension to start the season.

Seriously, what's the deal with this guy?

When is he going to arrive? Is the "official" reason of visa problems really valid? Can we still pencil this guy into the opening day lineup at this point?

I'm a litttle concerned that we've got the makings of a problem. I can't imagine the coaching staff is too happy about the situation.

fyi, last year his visa problems, were due to the fact he wasn't being paid enough. The year before that, it's because he was lazy. This guy should have a green card by now- he's been here for years.

You don't just "get a green card". There are certain requirements necessary. If Faria has spent x amount of time out the US, he may not be eligible. Also, he may need to prove there are a limited number of other soccer players available who could adequately do his job, depending on his current visa status. In this environment, green cards are not falling like manna from heaven.

But thanks for the update. I will temporarily remove him from my fantasy team.

Thanks for the lecture on green cards. It has been documented on the Metro board when he was with us that he more than qualified in every aspect for a green card, and that basically the reason he didn't have one is due to his laziness which he actually admitted to in a newspaper article over a year and a half ago. (Wish I had the link).

According to this morning's write-up by Bergin, Faria still hasn't reported to camp.

I wonder what exactly will happen if he doesn't at the start of the season.

A couple of weeks ago I saw on Brazilian TV Faria having a good ole time in Rio playing pick up games with buddies. They were even wearing uniforms. This was the same report in which I mentioned he said loving playing here and really looking forward to trying to make it to the World Cup via the USA team. Which obviously he would need to first become a citizen..among other things...

So with a possible future WC in mind, Im sure he has a lot of interest in playing here because on The Brazilian team he admitingly knows he cant make it.

He's living in his own world. He doesn't even have a green card, yet, and it takes several years after that to be able to apply for a citizenship (3 to 5, depending on your circumstances). In 3 years, Freddy Adu is going to be 18 ( :) )

    How long did Preki wait?

He's the best example that I can think of.

In 2001, Faria missed camp because his father was diagnosed with cancer and he returned home to be by his side during his surgery.

That seems legitimate. I'm not sure what this year's problems are all about.
