    From the press release:

"This move will be a big challenge in my life, but I feel confident in my abilities as a player and I’m very hopeful that I’ll be able to help the Fire win another championship. My style is to play up front and I like scoring goals."

A forward that likes to score. Consider me blown away.

Hey, Faria is fast, tall, has incredible stamina, is tenacious pressuring the back line, never gets injured (read that part twice), hustles, and has a good attitude. Oh yeah, and he scores goals. This guy is an excellent acquisition. Yes, he misses a lot of opportunities, but he creates far more than most MLS forwards too, and he finishes more than most MLS forwards do.

Fans love to criticize the Roy Lassiters or Raul Diaz Arces of MLS, but those guys scored a ton of goals, and IMHO, Faria is in that same mold. And he's young and has a very low salary cap number.

  3. No one will complain about his effort. He may be near to a green card as well.

Faria was also being fed by Mathis and defenses had to worry about Diallo as well. Faria has good positioning and makes fantastic runs, especially on the counter. Unfortunately I've seen him miss more often than not in huge clutch situations. Sitters, PK, whatever, I've seen him miss a lot more than I've seen a Faria goal. It got to the point last year that whenever he'd make a run down the field I'd just start laughing, as I knew he would blow it somewhere along the line.

But, like the Walsh, I'll see where it goes before I rail into him, hopefully Bob can... oh, crap. At any rate, hopefully the team can work better with him than Metro could.

I still feel ill about this whole thing.

Some people will complain that Butkus was a bum because he didn't cover wide receivers downfield.

    It's irrelevant.

A forward has one purpose, and one purpose only: Score. The more he does that -- no matter how he accomplishes it -- the better he is. Period.

So now what folks? Do you pair up Razov and Faria? Trade one of them? Try to trade Wolff who I can't imagine has anywhere near the trade value of the other two?

.It seems only a few Metro fans disagreed with you.many seemed happy with the deal(even the pro Faria crowd seemed to think it was a good deal on your part)

Well of course they are happy with the deal. They are TOTAL retards. :)

I think what the kind MetroStar fan was implying is that most MeteroStar fans believe they are losing a valuable player and we are gaining one.

Faria is a good fit for the Fire for the simple reason that he does not get injured. This is in my view crucial for the Fire. They gain a forward who will be there every week.

Now, for the player that Faria is. He has improved greatly since his first reason. He will make the run. That does not mean though that it is a smart run. At times last year, he woudl run into space that other players were going to resulting in the wrath of most of the team. Also, the huge knack on him is missing sitters. He scored 12 goals, but he could and should have had 18-20 goals last year. He took penalty kicks that he shouldn't have been taking, he missed countless 1 v 1 with goalies. Not that it is easy, but it was amazing how many times that happened to him.

Now for the mentality of Faria. He seems to have gained an ego. Probably the result of feeling that he was underappreciated. In the final game of the season, Ramos made a brilliant run through the defense, and laid a perfect ball for Faria to run onto. Faria didn't, even though he would have won it easily. Ramos just stared at him and shook his head. Now, Hernandez was in a similar position with us last year. He was acting like he was Pele or something. He had shown though flashes of brilliance, and when he went to NE, he really found his own.

The question with Faria is what happened to his ego. If it's still there, he might be a problem. However, if he stays humble I think 12 goals are in order, which would be huge for you guys.

Personally, I don't mind that he's gone. We lost a player who for money's worth was outstanding. However, the coaching situation was much worse then our current situation with strikers. We needed Bradley. Bradley wanted to come home, so it just worked out like that. But if I was a Fire fan, I wouldn't worry, Wilt will find someone who will do a stupendous job. I'm sure of that.

Score many goals Faria. Especially against the Mutts. A hat-trick every match against them would get you free beer for a long, long time.

    Faria In - Wolff Out

Rodrigo Faria is an awsome forward. The Metros leading scorer the last two years, never gets injured, and is a young guy with a bright future like Beasley.

It should be Razov and Faria up front next season. Trade Wolff.

Dipsy can add depth to the forward line at a cheaper price and only that way can we afford to keep our midfield core.

As a Metros fan I will miss Rodrigo Faria. He will miss two or three easy goals a season However, by the end of the year he will score 12-15 goals for ya. Rodrigo also has an unbelievable workrate. Faria never stops running at battles for the ball like few strikers I have ever seen. He will make an obvious mistake here & there. But his effort and team first attitude are top class!

I'm not disappointed to pick up Faria. Faria and Razov would give defenses two legit scorers to worry about, and if the Fire can somehow hang onto Wolff, we would have a good rotation at forward with three guys who have a decent track record of scoring goals--even if none of the three is a great finisher. If the Fire can't keep Wolff, I'd kind of like to see us pick up someone like DeRosario, who can create on his own better than Razov, Faria, or Wolff.

Too bad we couldn't get Mathis, though. Certainly wouldn't help our cap situation, but I'd love to have him! He likes to score goals, too.
