So last night we won 2-1 against the Saudi's.
Not that great a game, but at least we won. And Caluwé and especially Vanden Borre did very well.

I think there is a future with this team. They are very young (only Goor and Léonard are older than 30) and if you add to this team Proto, Kompany, Van Buyten, Mudingayi and Pieroni, you have a really good team and I'm sure they will qualify for the EC 2008!!!
But I didn't like the match of Goor and Collen...

Whoa! Was it the Saudi's "A" team? It really shouldn't surprise me that you guys won, but it's nice to see a victory.

At this point, we have to take any victory we can. We have a very young team now. The average age was around 24,5 and that is including the 32 year old Goor. Without him, it's probably not even 24.

This time with a different selection. Too bad Defour is falling out, but I would really like to see Dembele play for the Red Devils.

I hope Vandereycken sorts out a basic squad as soon as possible. I want him to have a basic selection of 16-17 that are pretty much sure of a selection when they are fully fit and playing with their club. And I want 7-8 players who will play most of the friendlies and qualifying campaign. It's time we stop experimenting and come up with a permanent squad.

1-1. We didn't exactly put the world on fire, now did we.
We'll have a hard time qualifying. Again.

lol it's funny, belgians are the most anti patriotic folk ever!

other countries directly defend their country and if they miss 2-3 players they say it's a b team

well belgium missed their 2 best players! kompany, van buyten then vermaelen, mpenz, mbo

I like what the coach is trying to do and yes, playing without your two best players should be reason enough to put an asterisk in that game. More so if you're just starting to learn a new system.
I would like to see Defour in the team and what happened to Daerden?

Does anybody know what the hell the independence of Montenegrio would mean in the group for the Euro?

The defense wasn't the problem in this game. Kompany and Van Buyten wouldn't have changed that much.

    the players weren't the problem.
it was everything around it that made it a crappy game
and it was clearly a B-team

Compared to 'de rode duivels' from '80 to '90 every team is a B-team and this is a C-team.

So 3-3 against a Turkey team that is in full transition. And people are pleased with that. We really are in a sorry state...

Bwa, we are in full transition too and I saw some good things. The first half hour was awful but after that I saw good performances of Huysegems, Dembele, Swerts, Defour, Simons,... Schollen, Buffel and Vandenbergh were really underachieving (well, Schollen was acting on his level). Based on the friendlies, I think this should be our future team:

    ----------------------------Proto or Stijnen

    -------------Van Buyten---Kompany-----Vermaelen

Swerts or VdB----------------------------------Leonard, Goor or Vandamme

    -----------------Geraerts----------Simons

    ----------------------------Defour

    -----------------Dembele--------------------Huysegems

    A 3-4-3 that turns into a a 5-3-2 when not in possesion?

Despite VDB's uneven season, I still prefer him to Swerts. The problem will be the left midfield slot. Goor probably won't be able to carry this team through the entire campaign. Van Damme is the only possible replacement we have, but he's still unproven at that position, imho.

Actually Stijnen-Proto might be one of the most interesting questions for Vandereycken. To me neither of the two is really superior to the other. It could be we end up without a real n° 1, and that Vandereycken lets it depend on the form of the moment.

Wow dropping Buffel? I haven't followed him much since he left Feyenoord, I guess he isn't improving like we'd all hope.
