And then there was one.... After owning half of the league back in the day, AEG could be down to just the Galaxy in short order as the current owner of the Houston Rockets, Leslie Alexander, appears to be close to buying the Dynamo. http://www.myfoxhouston.com/story/1...-alexander-in-negotiations-to-purchase-dynamo
Still unclear on both these major points - seems like only 50% is for sale. You would hope the stadium is part of the package or at least better terms/say. All can be obtained is the price is right.
All of it. If memory serves, the City of Houston or the county owns the stadium, and leases it to the Dynamo.
Yes the City/County own the stadium but the AEG entity manages (essentially the owners) but not the team.
Dude's got his own wine label, and other interesting facts available at wikipedia. And there's addition biographic info on his vineyard's website.
You will notice once again... ...that's 50%, 25% and 25% of the actual 100%, not 50%, 25% and 25% of the mythical 49% that those who still believe MLS, LLC owns 51% of each franchise think is all that exists to be bought and sold.
I'm sorry but come on guys does anyone actually read the articles. Just after the quoted portion in the first post:
That's really how the MLS single-entity system is structured? Or is Alexander buying in to MLS, just as much as (if not slightly more so than) he is buying in to the Houston Dynamo? And supposedly he is probably also being given the ability to buy in to the controlling group of SUM, and is likely doing so, right?
Yes? Considering the set-up that MLS has, it is possible that he is just buying the operation of the team and a new set of shares of MLS and SUM, while the current I/Os are seeing their /O dropped and are just remaining as investors in MLS/SUM. However, I'd think it is more likely that he is buying them out completely and is buying not only their operation of the Dynamo, but their shares of MLS/SUM as well.
It's hard to believe that 10 years ago that nobody except for 3 people wanted anything to do with MLS, now it seems like everyone wants to get in line for a slice of the pie.
Pie is delicious when it is served with a side of stadium ownership/control. and an extra helping of soccer united marketing.
Ok thanks. I get confused because I know Kraft operated SJ for a little while as well and was never sure of the time line for AEG in terms of what they held at the same time.
So, would this change be welcomed by Dynamo fans? Does he know/care about soccer at all? This was the guy, IIRC, who tried to cockblock the soccer stadium from happening in downtown because of the competition for concert events and like with his team's building.
It will be a sad day when Oscar De La Hoya is no longer a part of the league. If this happens, should we expect Wondo to pull a Lin and return to Houston?
