He's been fantastic all season .He's the heart of Sporting's midfield(trinco) and all their buildup play goes through him. He's also got one of the best right foots in Portugal , too...he rocks! He was never given a fair chance at Barca(playing him at right wing..he was being wasted)
Wow. Yet another player that I had forgotten about. I think he was called into a few qualifiers for 2002, but since he didn't feature regularly at Barcelona he fell off the radar. Now he is in POrtugal? I don't know - many Brazilians in Portugal don't really get a shot at the Selecao unless they are particular stand-outs. Portugal couldn't cap him now either - if in fact he did feature in 2002 qualifiers. I always thought he was more of a defensive midfielder but... I honestly don't remember. What i do remember from him though was that he sometimes was knocked on his experience (lack-there-of) and decision making.
Rochemback in the U-23 For those who were wondering whether he can suit up for the Selecçao again, you can stop wondering now. http://www.maisfutebol.iol.pt/futb/...493&mf_club=0&num_jog=0&p_sondagem=0&p_voto=0 I don't understand much Portuguese but from what I've been able to understand Sporting CP isn't happy with the decision, as they'll be without him for their all-important match vs. their hated neighbors, Benfica. He will fly to Chile to participate in the Pre-Olympic qualifiers.
..........similar to Lucio in that he gives everything to the game he is playing in. Both Internacional players of the past as well..............
Yes. And sadly, both left Internacional too young, like many others in recent years. For over 20 years Internacional was managed by a group known as "Otoman Empire" (because of the ethnic origins of most of its members), that used to sign with lots of cheap players (bought or promoted), hoping to sell at least one to European teams. The recent administrations (Fernando Miranda and Fernando Carvalho) managed to control the debt and to keep some important players. This year, some young talents like Nilmar, Daniel Carvalho, Diego and many others signed long contracts and hopefully they will give the colorado fans many joy (i.e. titles ) before they go away. Rochemback rejoins Sporting Lisbon http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/m/middlesbrough/7398544.stm
Had completey forgotten about him until i saw his name mentioned in an article on BBC where European reporter Tim Vickery brought his name up as a player who never met up to the expectations Fabio Rochemback is in good form in the Gremio midfield, filling one of the holding roles. A decade ago, though, he was entitled to believe that he was destined for higher things. Still a teenager, he was playing for Brazil and signed by Barcelona. He looked on the road to becoming a dynamic midfield force, bursting forward to score decisive goals in the World Cup and the Champions League. Somewhere along the line those dreams faded. He has enjoyed a perfectly respectable career. But Sporting Lisbon, Middlesbrough and back to Brazil to be a useful club player before the age of 30 - this was surely not part of the script in 2001.
well, Rochemback almost didnt made at Grêmio. He arrived from Portugal in quite a "fatty" state. he was benched and when he entered he was not good at all. The crowd even booed him sometimes. Maybe it helped that Rochemback is a Grêmio fan since a kid. He regained his form and became one of the most crucial players in Grêmios current team... a critical part of the team when we came from 19th position in the 16th round of last year´s league and finished at 4th position.
