Real Madrid start Roberto Carlos has revealed that he is targeting a move to Arsenal when his contract at the Bernabeu expires. The 29-year-old Brazilian international's current deal with the Spanish giants expires in 2004. He wants to play in the Premiership and Arsenal are the top of his list as they fellow Brazilians Gilberto Silva and Edu already at the club. He is quoted as saying in the News of the World: "I am ready to play in the English Premier League and know it will be suitable for me. "When my contract finishes that is definitely my priority and at Arsenal there are fellow Brazilians. "I think as a club they are like Real Madrid - they have supreme confidence that looks utterly unbreakable. "When a team is like that, they are difficult to beat. They have a great squad, a fantastic coach and a balanced team." He added: "When Brazilians come into different environments, it's useful to have a few of them together. "When Edu plays with Gilberto, Arsenal play a different kind of football. It works. "In England I would love to have the company of other Brazilians - we could win things quicker. "I have been to London a few times and I am sure I would enjoy it."
It would be hard for me to imagine Roberto Carlos playing anywhere besides Real Madrid. Then again, I would have never imagined Rivaldo playing anywhere besides Barcelona, but it happened.
