Hello, I'm an American and a supporter of the United States soccer team. Robbie Russell is a player in the USA's player pool, but has yet to receive a cap. I know he plays in the Norweigan league, but that's it. Could any of you give me anymore information?
He now plays for Rosenborg BK, Scandinavias best team. He's played quite good, but has had problems adapting to Rosenborg's playing style. But I have faith in him!
These two seem mutually exclusive. How can he be playing well but failing to adapt to Rosenborg's playing style? Please explain.
Sorry The problem is that he has played very well on offense but has fallen short on the defensive part. But I'm quite sure that he will improve his defensive skills.
Part of the reason he's playing like crap defensively, is the 4-3-3 formation Rosenborg plays with. The other part is that he came from Sogndal, the worst defensive team in the entire league, letting in buckets of goals. He needs time to learn all the strategic parts of the offensive game Rosenborg plays. When I think of it, Rosenborg always has had problems with the R and L backs. They should change formation to be more safe defensively. Then I think Russel will fit in very well.
o, so he's not a bad player. I heard that he could get a cap for the USA, but then I found out he wasnt even starting on his club. Well, now I know his club is Scandanavia's best and you have hope for him to make an impact. Thanks.
It will be great for his player development to play with a tactical team such as RBK. I see Rosenborg using him and Mikael Dorsin a bit more, to try to ease them into the AGING starting XI.
