it would defintiely be a step (or two) down from rosenborg circa 1992-2004, but his team ain't exactly that - you're right, though... the most important thing is playing regularly
The way RBK have played the last 2 seasons, this may be more of a lateral move than anything. Injuries and having a new manager come on board during his recovery killed his chances at RBK. A shame, really, but at the end of the day, Rosenborg haven't been their normal selves either so I think it's best Robbie's moving on. Pre-injuries, I liked what I saw from Robbie, though it was a limited amount, he could of thrown his name into the WC hat. Whether he could of made it is debatable. Viborg is a decent side who have played in the UEFA Cup recently so I feel sure this is a positive move. I want to see Robbie healthy (which Robbie claims) again and at the top of his game.
Viborg finished 4th last season. Also, if the Royal League has the same # of teams as last season, Viborg should qualify.
Viborg are in need of several reinforcements and have now also handed a trial to the Ivory Coast player Raoul Kouakou, but I think he is a central defender/midfielder, so I guess it wont have any influence on their wish to sign Robbie Russell and Joe Zewe. .
Here's a 14-year thread bump. A new interview with Robbie Russell where he looks back on his career, playing in the Champions League, scoring the winning penalty in 2009 MLS Cup, and his life now as a doctor - where he is preparing for life on the frontlines vs. COVID-19. http://www.americansoccernow.com/ar...cup-dr-robbie-russell-joins-medical-frontline
By the way.. in the list of best American players to never get capped, Russell is at the top. Russell, Whitbread, Magee, Frei, Melia (also note I am not include American citizens who opted for other countries)
