Not entirely unexpected, but Robbie Keane is retiring from international football. Next Wednesday's friendly vs Oman will be his final appearance in the green shirt.

145 caps, 67 goals. Yet his legacy is sometimes contested - throughout his career he has been followed by doubts over his finishing ability, his "big match" performance, and his ability to influence team performances when under pressure.

How should Irish supporters remember Robbie Keane? What were his greatest moments for Ireland?

    For me:

Most memorable goal: vs Germany, 2002 World Cup.
Best goal: Pre-Euro 2004 friendly vs Holland in Amsterdam.
Honorable mention: 2002 WCQ goals vs Holland and Iran; 1999 goal v Yugoslavia (his second); Paris 2009.

He is without question my biggest sports hero. I'll never forget that goal in 2002. Great player. Seen him play for Ireland and LA Galaxy. By all accounts is a great man too.

Only two players scored on Germany in 2002: Keano and Ronaldo

You just can't argue with his record especially considering our other strikers tallies.

But Aldo is still my favourite Irish Striker :p
