I don’t know how to feel about this. Absolutely love Robbie, but I’m still hugely skeptical this organization is capable of providing the support and structure for anyone to be successful. I mean this is the fourth “trope” we’ve tried since Bruce left. 1. Promote the reserve coach 2. Hire the most experienced and successful coach 3. Hire the foreign up and comer 4. Hire the former player who exemplified the winning mentality of a golden era We keep going at this rate and we’ll end up with Ted Lasso by 2022. Which come to think of it paired with a decent tactician might be worth it at this/that point. SPOILERS At least he was able to get something out of the team with an ownership group working against him.
I'm a little bit skeptical. This has the feel of the management going with someone they know and not doing a thorough search. Keane will certainly bring passion but what does he know about tactics or building a team?
More: Guillermo Barros Schelotto has NOT been fired / released / terminated as most of those reports around Robbie Keane are indicating. So not truth to that part of the story either. #LAGalaxy #MLS https://t.co/OHFOae8DeZ— Corner Of The Galaxy (@GalaxyPodcast) October 16, 2020 Sorry to throw cold water on this one.
Strictly speaking on the coaching job (I believe the FO should be replaced first, then the coaching staff and lastly field players) and ex-G I would feel ok with Vanney. His contract is up at end of year. If not him and we really have our hearts set on rolling the dice on an unproven ex-G then I would go back to Toronto and pick up Calichman if he feels he's up to it. At least Dan has experience on the coaching side of the sport and right here in MLS. Then there is Chris Armas tjo I dontt have much confidence in him. I really have zero idea what Keane brings to the table other than attitude in the good sense of the word but I dont know how that translates into a capable coach. Can someone please explain it like I am 7 year old? Even Beckham doesn't coach his own team. I really hope this rumor is just that. Except for the part about the parting of ways with Guillermo.
One question about this, has any former striker turned into a good manager? Most tend to be defenders or midfielders.
The escape I give is the NASCAR team started by current driver Denny Hamlin and Michael Jordan. They denied it until they announced it. It was just a rumour for the longest time.
Former Ireland striker to make MLS return as LA Galaxy's head coach https://www.msn.com/en-ie/news/othe...s-return-as-la-galaxys-head-coach/ar-BB1a6L8N
I find it very encouraging. Not the false rumor of Guillermo being fired although that does get me all giddy. But the fact Keane is having troubles with Football Association of Ireland in that the new coach has absolutely no place for Keane in his crew to the point they are paying him to do, nothing. Yeah, lets bring him here and spend the next two years finding out why that is.
I wonder if this is our Robbie Keane. According to The Sun this one spent 5 years with an MLS club on the EAST coast
I'm so confused by all of this. So is GBS out and Robbie in or just all rumors? Anyway, Magic Mike for President. He's the President we need, but a President we don't deserve.
Yeah, I've read a couple other stories on this including one where the wife is publicly pleading for respect for Keane. They got themselves in a hot mess over at the Emerald Isle. I am going with a quote from this article you found: " Robbie has a lot of learning to do here," Delaney is quoted as saying." This is his own people saying this. The ones that know him better than any Galaxy fan. I loved the guy here when he played but Galaxy is not a coaching academy.
Chris Tucker on Twitter caught that Claudine Keane has updated her Twitter bio location to "Los Angeles/Ireland". So if that isn't definitive proof I don't know what is.
