He is a donkey. City should've brought Shaun Goater back on a one game transfer to destroy United again.

Or bring in Clint Mathis on a free!

Or hell, how about give Claudio Reyna some playing time.

Lord knows nobody on that team, save S W-P, did anything to merit playing time on saturday.

to be quite frank, you'd be welcome to him. A potted plant would move faster, win more headers and probably score more goals too.

If I may make this thread serious...watching Fowler the last few games, I think Man City should go to a 4-5-1 a la Leeds. It solves two personnel problems. It drops the crappy 2nd forward, and gets another of their good mids onto the field. I think McManaman might be very dynamic if he's in a 5 man midfield and has maximum freedom to come forward where and when he wants to.

Man City's problem in the past few weeks has not really been the midfield, it's the sieve like defence and the inability of the strikers to convert their chances. Anelka has gone off form a bit and has no in-form parter, while City's defence is just mediocre.

Hard assessment but true. It's tough seeing Robbie these days after ALL those glorious goals he scored for us.
Goal scorers (not including Shearer) seem to have a short scoring life. Robbie, Super Kev etc.

maybe, but I was referring to Goater.

personally I was annoyed we let Jamie Cureton go. He didn't really fit into our style of play but nor does Goater, and we paid £600,000 for him and he must be on at least double what Cureton was on.

Shaun Goater's now an MBE though, which is nice. If he ever plays for us again I think he should have "GOATER MBE" on the back of his shirt.

"Fowler is no goat". Now thats stating the obivious! Goats are lazy creatures that spend all there time slowly grazing on grass, now Fowler, well he..... ahh. My mistake.

Fowler has been atrocious and based on this seasons play he should be in the 1st div.
Anelka hasn't gone off form,he's not getting the service.
Shaun Wright-Phillips is just to frenetic in the build ups, almost all his passes have too much on them and he just doesn't have the skill to carry out the vision he sometimes shows in the passing game.I think Man City will do better getting some major talent in in the next few weeks while they are still in a decent position in the league.

no ,I reckon man citys problem is that they are a social club where football gets in the way.
Keegans runs all his teams in the same manner and thats why he hasnt and wont ever win a major honour as manager.

Fowler scored a good goal against Charlton last night. Nice volley from Anelka's buildup.

Just a shame we couldn't hold on for the win. 13 games without winning and I've seen 8/9 of those games live.

Plus points from last nights game.
    - Fowler and Anelka combined.
    - Sun Jihai did not play (Even though I love the guy)
    - Dunne was as consistant as ever.

    Negative points from last night
    - Di Canio
    - Crap referee/linesmen
    - It was never a penalty!

    Roll on Pompey!

And in response to the original question. The Goat was never a great striker like Robbie Fowler was at Liverpool, he was more of a poacher. Good for promotion chasing teams in the first division but thats about it - but he achieved legendary status at City for his never say die attitude. He was smart leaving when he did, because he knows Manchester loves him.

Look at him at Reading this season, hardly profolic is he?
