Implied R. This game now means everything. Seriously. There are still seats open for the bus. If you can't get up for this game, the last game of the season with the playoffs on the line, just turn in your fvcking supporter's card now. FILL THE BUS.
Who cares what they witnessed tonight. The team has another game to play that is an extremely important one. Real fans support the team no matter what. You would think someone that sells team apparel would understand that. I'm not all of a sudden going to become a San Jose fan because they are good. The Metros are my squad for life. METRO4LIFE
I'm in. I was hoping to pay at Nathan's but couldn't find the person involved. Guess I'll do PayPal. -js
Some people might not be able to make it up does that make them less of a fan or supporter. I noticed that trend on the Metro boards. If you don't do what I do you are not as big a fan or supporter. Everyone has their own life and reasons for going or not going to the game. The ESC is good it that its members really support the Metros and try to do good by the team, but some of its members fail to realize that not everybody is going to love the Metros as much as they do, also that everybody has their own life and personnel situation. I wouldn't consider a person who has to spend time with their family or has something else important to do during a Metro game less of a fan. I am sure the players are busy accomodating their lifes just to please the fans. Please.
No way I'm wasting a weekend going up to Foxboro to see the Metromess play the Revs. I guess Im no real fan! Personally I think it is in the best long term interest of the Metros to lose to the REVS and miss the playoffs. Maybe then OZ will be fired and we can revamp a lineup for next year. Lets face it if the Metros make the playoffs they are 2 games and out to either LA or SanJose. I couldn't believe it when OZ subbed out both Faria & Diallo to play defend to the death and no attack soccer. No, I repeat no coach worth anything would abandon all hopes of attack in a 1-1 game which could decide a playoff spot. I have lost all faith in OZ he needs to go, If that means the Metros miss the playoffs then OK.
Re: Re: Road trip to NE. If you aren't going, you aren't a fan. [r] 1. I witnessed a team that needs help. If you need the definition of supporters club, let me know, I'll throw one at you. Not sure how you can run a football store and not realize the importance of supporting a team with 1 game left for a playoff spot, but so be it. Or maybe we are only supposed to support them when they are champions? 2. It's $ 35 bucks, not $ 60. Let's not apply your margins to everything. (okay, that was a cheap shot. I apologize. I'm only kidding). 3. How many Eurosnobs support teams 3000 miles away but sniff at US soccer and MLS for not being EPL or La Liga quality? (and before you go off on my profile, notice which team comes first...) If going 200 miles to support a team is too much for you, then how far are you willing to go to support them? Are you a fan as long as they are within 80 miles, but not beyond that? It's not like were asking people to do the driving themselves- it's a one day bus trip. Leave Sat am, back Sat night. And there are a lot of "hardcore" fans who talk crap about supporting the team right here, but either don't make it out for games or make it on the roadtrip. 4. I wasn't telling parents to leave their kids at the mall for 14 hours and ignore them. I was talking about the guys in 101. I understand work/family/etc responsibilites. But we've been planning this trip for ages. We aren't hosing anyone on the price, we got a great deal of support from the team (for once) and the game is now the most important one of the season. If you have a chance to go, as a "fan", you have to take that chance. I'm talking about the guys who aren't going because they don't "feel" like it. There are guys who have a chance to go but don't take it. Others don't have that chance, so be it. 5. This is the final game of the year, for all the marbles. Had we won the last two and left this game to mean nothing, I would understand some responding w/ mild enthusiasm. Remember, this might be the last Metro game for 6+ months. Why not be a part of it?
Well, I'm going. The trip itself is fun -- and I plan to get mighty mellow in the bus. There's good company, shite videos, some singing and horse-play. Also, I haven't seen Gillette up close and personal yet. If Grafer can face NE, so can I. Frankly, I hope we are out of the playoffs. We don't have a home field to host a match or a team worth advancing. We'd be out in two games straight. That's it. So I plan to kiss the season good-bye and enjoy the busride -- get outa town for a day. I don't know what changes we will see come January. I hope they lead to success next year -- at least equal to 2000, if not better. I don't know about Metro, but 2003 will be my last season at The Swamp. I will not go there in 2004; I can only hope Metro is playing somewhere else by then. One season of plastic with NFL lines embedded in the turf will be enough for me.
They suck. I'll drive myself up there to see and hang out with my friends, but when it comes down to it. F the Metro. They suck. I just want to get Aiden Brown's gloves cuz my MIKE AMMANN gloves are getting pretty shot.
yeah, stuffed animals do make great friends huh jackass??? You seem to be the type that enjoys the Plushie fetish....
Onion, I have two serious, honest questions for you. 1: Do you support the Metros or any other MLS team? (Nothing in your profile, and you always insult them here) 2: Are you Brazilian? (Naturally, not an American with Brazilian parents.) JMac
That right there told me all I need to know about you and your superiority complex when it comes to the Metros. They are here, and they are all we have. If you want to support, don't wait for a reason to do so. Just support the freaking team. You list your team as Brasil, but you are English born and raised?! I bet you're also a "die-hard" Lakers fan (converted from being a Bulls fan about 4 years ago), Detroit Red Wings fan and Yankees fan right? Overseas, I bet you just love Manchester United, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich (maybe Leverkusen now) and Juventus. Bottom line is people like you who will only support a team once it is a champion make me ill. If you're going to be a supporter of a team, be one in good times and bad. Don't wait until they are the best and then jump on the bandwagon. JMac
Makes sense to me. After all, The Onion Bag is local, and I don't support it. I support Metro for practical reasons. 1. I enjoy going to soccer matches, and it's even more fun when I care who wins. 2. I need get to the match via train or bus. 3. Metro is the only team close enough to home; there is no lower division team within easy reach, for example. 4. After 7 years I am attached to the team and the league. Can't say I'm attached to Giants Stadium, but at least I can get there. As for The Onion Bag, I don't need what they sell. And I suppose they feel the same about MLS.
Not this time, Jacen. The OB shop, according to what I've heard, has tried again and again to do good by the Metros and its support (running a bus service from lower Manhattan to the Swamp for most of last season, for just one example) - win-win situations both for Metro and for their business, only to have MFO's lack of imagination and initiative scuttle most efforts. It's just a microcosm of Metro's relationships, or total lack of, with the soccer community in NYC. Like I said, no imagination, no initiative. The OB shop is growing; Metro are going nowhere. Someone knows the business they're in, and someone doesn't.
My memory might be fuzzy, but don't you support Everton as well? BTW, did either the Keano book or the new Celtic road jersey come in yet? If so, I'll try to stop by later this week.
