Wife, adult son & I bought tix from La Barra Brava for the game. (We're not members of BB, but son used to play for their team.) We are regular season ticket members on the loud side of RFK (section 330 represent!). Other than being a new stadium with a great view of the river, it's really a second rate SSS and the security staff is terrible! I have to say their security is enabled by the Union Mgmt. Right? We purchased parking in Lot A from BB for $15, our name was on "the list" and the arrival was smooth, there was even a small area coned off for DCU supporters to park. The bag check and security scan was smooth & painless. In the concourse area, once we passed this fakey fence, we couldn't walk back. There wasn't a real beer stand in this area, only the expensive craft beer with a really really slow tap. At halftime, I did manage to find a stray beer man. $8.50 for small Lite Beer. Where are the $10 24 oz Tecate??? Our tiny little area was double booked, we just had to squeeze in. No Union staff anywhere to be found. Some CSC staff, black shirted APEX Security standing at the top and NJ State Police. APEX Security, or rather APE SECURITY in black shirts, they were ready rumble. And the STATE POLICE? Really?! For my wife, all of this was really shocking. She's not accustomed to be treated like a criminal. @JC_Thomson I received this email from BB: I wanted to take a moment and thank everyone for traveling to Philadelphia with La Barra Brava this past weekend. Unfortunately, the experience was marred not only by loss, but by the problems that we experienced with the Philadelphia Front Office and Security. It literally takes hours to plan and execute these trips, and part of the logistics is a conference call between the leaders of the visiting supporter groups, and both front offices of the teams involved. The Philadelphia operations people knew how many tickets we sold, and that we would continue selling tickets on the day of the game. They failed to properly plan. This is not the first time there have been issues with the honesty, and behavior of the Philadelphia Front Office or their Operations Teams. The ticketing issues are in addition to the fact that on the day of the game the Philadelphia Front Office communicated incorrect information regarding flags, drums, etc. in direct contradiction of what was discussed during the security conference call and what the rules are on the written documents we are provided. We are not going to let the issues created by the Philadelphia Front Office and their Operations Team go unanswered or unaddressed. I have already received emails and/or messages from several people, but in order to aide our cause I am asking everyone to take a little time and email me with any negative experiences you had in the tailgate and/or stadium. If you are able, please send me an email by COB tomorrow. I plan on sharing those comments with the league office, but will not include your name unless given express permission to do so.
Of all of the MLS stadiums that regularly host more than a few DCU supporters < 25, Crew Stadium consistently do the best job of it.
Could have told you that before you went, Philly was voted worst stadium for visiting fans not worst cos of their non existent atmosphere but just unnecessary security and terrible FO communication.
