Any word on him? Is he still with the team? Was he at least at the game on Wednesday? Is he travelling with us to Mexico?

I've got no problems with our forwards and midfielders, but our defense right now looks awfully shaky.

He didn't show up in any game rosters from the Florida training. He didn't play in Las Vegas, of course. So I have no idea what his status is. The Rapids are notorious for not giving out information on players coming and going, especially when they are on trial.

For what it's worth, he practiced with the team today.

That's a good sign. Now, where's Ballboy when we need him, so we can get the real story here.

Most teams in any sport, in any location in the world are not going to be very forthcoming in giving information regarding players on trial and/or awaiting a signature on a contract. Without a heavy media presence, you're not going to hear very much.

As for Rizo, he was not out in Las Vegas with the team. A reliable source on the team told me that his playing time has had to be somewhat limited due to the length of time he's with the team (longer than a normal 1 or 2 week trial) combined with legal paperwork issues (e.g. work permits and transfer negotiations).

I also got the impression from the same source that the team is happy with him so far.

Greenie, you're back! We got your game reports through intermediaries then nothing. I thought maybe you ran away with a stripper from Vegas or got into a brawl with some beer bottle throwing Santos fans and couldn't make bail. :D

I believe its spelled "Rizzo", and I sure hope he stays. He looked solid in training.

i would be very surprised if he didn't make the team. from all the preseason reports, even before anyone knew his name, he was the one player besides beckerman that everyone was talking about. even more than zizi or grimandi.

Rizzos problem is his head and slow speed. He does not defend well and once beaten cannot catch up.

Pigtail, this is a fairly devastating accusation for a defender. Where do you get the information? Do you know him from Mexico? Does he make a lot of bad decisions in game situations?

I saw him playing in Florida and some of the players whom I spoke to concur with that statement

I don't know if this disputes pigtail's information or not, but Hankinson has had some good things to say about Rizo.
He told me he thought Rizo has/could play 4 positions-left back, center back, left mid, or central mid. I wouldn't think a slow guy who makes bad decisions would be able to pull that off.

We'll have to see how Rizo does once "real" competition starts up and he's allowed to participate. Currently, he hasn't been "officially" signed from what I've heard. So, it's hard to say because he hasn't been able to get into any pre-season matches.

The times I have seen him, he's very commanding on the ball, and isn't afraid to get physical on defense or push up from left back.

    ...

He also said something like that about Palacios.
