Anyone else underwhelmed by "the storm of the decade?"

Nice, steady rain in Davis. A little heavy in the morning along with some wind gusts. Nothing 60-70 mph, though. Heck, even my electricity and cable stayed on all day, which is rare for a real storm.

Some areas did get pummeled, like the stretch between Santa Cruz and Pacifica. And from talking to folks it sounds like a good chunk of the northern half of San Francisco lost power. In the mountains, the storm didn't make it over the crest. Just skirted north. We did get rain east of the crest, but that's about it. Today I've got an inch or two of snow that fell overnight. Five miles west on the other side of the pass they got 15-20 inches, which really isn't an impressive amount, and making things worse, it fell only in a very narrow band right along the summit. If you actually got hit by this storm, it was probably pretty impressive. But it seems like a lot of places didn't experience the storm's full force.

I think we got spared here in Sacramento, but yeah ,was not as strong as they were making it out to be. Friends up in Truckee said they've been pummeled with snow, people surfing on Lake Tahoe, pretty crazy. I think everything north of us got the brunt of it.

I assure you, no place in Truckee got pummeled with snow. :(

In regards to Vivek firing Malone a lot of people are saying he is Maloof 2.0. Given there were rumors he might invest with the rest of the Kings owners if the Republic go to the MLS, would we still want him as an owner?

If so, more of a Jerry Jones 2.0 or Peter Angelos (Orioles) 2.0. They came in and spent money, decided on who to trade and who to keep and kept doing it until their beginner's luck ran out (well, Angelos anyway).

We'll see how quickly before Vivek realizes career basketball and soccer people understand the game and personnel much better than he, freeing him to innovate on the business side. The sooner the better.

That Malone firing was just strange. Tough crowd.

Ailene Voisen (sp?) had a really good take on it the day after the firing, I thought.

I don't care who the owner is, just as long as the Rpublic is not a second fiddle/afterthought. I've experienced this with Wolff/Fischer and the Quakes, and notable examples like the Krafts in New England. Please, just don't let this team be an afterthought.

Hey, we're the second most diverse city in the US. Not surprised, even out here in Elk Grove it's really diverse. At my School 60% of the student body is non-white and you can't walk without seeing Chinese, or Latinos, or Filipinos, or Sikh, or other ethnic minorities everywhere, and a ton of the restaurants are Asian or Middle Eastern as well. I personally love the diversity here.

That's a great thing to be proud of, something the city embraces and is represented when you walk around a Sac Republic game.

I can't use my tix to the 'Quakes v. Orlando game at Levi's stadium on Sunday. Pretty good seats in section 123, seats 3 and 4. They are apprx. $100 tickets (hard to tell as part of a season ticket package). Available to any of you for $50.

Wish I could go, I'll be out of town. Hopefully someone picks them up, if not here, on the Quakes forum.

Temple is aptly named. I do a lot of worshipping there. Now they will be proselytizing in Davis!

So, if a member of the Earthquakes is referred to as a "'Quake," then how do we refer to a member of the Republic?

    Republican?
    Representative?
    Citizen?

    or, maybe

    Champion?
    Champ?
    Sir?

I still like the weird, old original location the best. It was sad to see it go.
People do that? I don't think people should do that.

Well, sure, people do that all the time. "Who was Derek Jeter?" "He was a Yankee."

"Who does Steven Lenhart play for now?" "He's still a 'Quake (or maybe "an Earthquake"), just injured."

It sounds really weird to my ear. (It should be Quaker too.) And I don't think it's done for many other teams.

I think they say "a Sounder." Nobody says Revolutionary, Rapid, Realer, Galaxian (Galaxative?). Do they say Timber? (I think they just say Timber player.) They certainly don't have a nominative for United players. Red Bull? Nope. Unionist? Nope. Nothing for the Fire or Crew.

    I guess what I'm saying isn't this isn't a problem.

    Republic player is good enough.
