I can't stand Demichelis. His player selection and his roster. His mentality. This guy gets bossed by a mid tier boca playing simple football tactics and his team can't even defend. No midfield presence with these over the hill players. When we have youth and some of the best talent in the reserves.

I hope the fans tear him open on this one. I'm done with him.

So, Meza had a good showing, eh? I wonder how long until the gallinas begin demanding Scaloni to call him up if he can continue…:D

Midfielder Matías Rojas joined Argentinian club River Plate as a free agent after negotiations with Inter Miami fell through, and rescues a point in the last match at the 87th minute. He scores most of his goals with headers. Tough as nails that kid!

Not a lot of traffic in here. I was the last poster but for what it's worth June 25th will be a good day for football for me. My current Serie A team playing against my childhood team!

I watched the Benfica-Boca game, and I really appreciate what Otamendi does for club. I know that there were rumors last year that River was going to sign him, but he extended his stay at Benfica and I believe he just signed another year extension thru 2025-26 season. We could've really used him.

Di Maria and Otamendi scoring for Benfica. :ROFLMAO:
It was a fun match to watch. Otamendi to River would be nice for the fans. I wonder if wages are an issue. I haven't read or heard either way.

He was linked last year, but ended up renewing with Benfica. He claims he doesn’t feel comfortable returning to Argentina with the day-to-day “living insecurity”. Wages wouldn’t have been an issue (players like Acuña, for example, are making fortunes)

Honestly, he saved us from a headache. I mean not like Pezzella, Gonzalez Pirez, or Paulo Diaz are great by any means, but Ota wouldn’t exactly be much of an upgrade either. We need to look elsewhere to fill the position.

A lot of older players come back to the country for nostalgia, but I tend to think like you do on the matter. Still I think a lot of fans would have been happy to see him. You are correct however.

Was a good first showing for River, three header goals. That could be a thing depending on which Acerbi and Bastoni combination shows up. They haven't been very good with the aerial duels lately. The game verse Inter will be the litmus test with Lautaro looking like he's back in form.

Well hopefully we’re qualified by then and don’t have anything to worry about the result vs Inter. If we win tomorrow, we’re qualified to knockouts regardless of the result vs the Italians.

However if we don’t get the three points tomorrow, things could get tricky: say we tie, we’d have 4 points, meaning if we don’t win vs Inter we could very well end up being eliminated if both Inter and Monterrey beat Urawa.

It’s imperative to get the win tomorrow, that way we don’t have to worry about the result vs Inter

Acuna and Montiel losing their cool when they should be the leaders. Subiabre wasn't even considered.

I went to the River vs Monterrey game. It was my first time seeing an Argentine club play live. Wow, did River ever disappoint. They had something like 69% passing accuracy in the 1st half. Most fouls in the tournament.

The crowd was the best part. I entered through the Monterrey section and I thought they would outnumber the River fans, but no way, once I got in there were tons of River fans everywhere. Probably 60/40 for River.

I couldn't believe my eyes seeing Maxi Meza starting and making horrible play after horrible play. Flashbacks of 2018 World Cup. I was furious. What is is with this guy? Cannot believe he is still around starting for a club like River.
