looking at the photos, their are gonna be a ton of shots that make it over the SOB section and into the area behind it. How close is the river to that area, and is their a shot a ball could make it?
The River is pretty much right behind the stadium. I wouldn't be surprised to see one fly out there at least every other game.
No chance that a ball will make it to the river. The player's locker rooms are behind our section and then the "Toyota Park" grassy area is behind that. For a ball to make it that far it would have to be on purpose and one hell of a kick.
I think if it was high enough it could. It would most likely just land on the roof behind us. I could see flying over that at some point though. Especially if we anger a certain FC Dallas player.
My seats are in the back row and the roof behind us isn't small so it would take a hell of a kick. That being said, I believe if it was intentional someone could easily clear the building but the river shot would be a challenge. We'll have to pose that to the front office as a halftime contest. Place the ball at the penalty spot and whoever can kick it in the river wins a free jersey.
No way it makes the river on the fly, but maybe it goes over the River End and takes a few good bounces
That's the first thing I thought when the first photos of the stadium emerged. Anyone have a kayak or canoe? It could be like what they do in San Francisco for home runs in the bay.
Its gonna be like the San Fransisco Giants stadium, people are gonna be in the river trying to get balls
THe only difference between san francisco and us (philadelphia) is that our river is extremely disgusting and you would be insane to want to actually swim in that nasty water for any reason at all.
I think 1 ball made it into like row 5.... it's going to have to be a horrible (awesome) shot to make it into the river.
yea, Sounders didnt even bother shooting except for the goal, and THE U was too on target to go that far over
At Shrewsbury Towns old (much loved and missed) ground the balls regularly went over the Riverside and into the river..... ....but we had a plan....http://www.shrewsburytown.com/page/FansTemplate4/0,,10443~65290,00.html
That is an incredible story!! I love teams with a long history full of anecdotes like that, adds so much. On another note, it's great being part of the Union from the start, hopefully we're making the foundation for tales like this decades down the road and beyond!
regardless if the balls go in the river or not can we just establish a rule that all balls shot into the stands (river end) that who ever catches it get to keep the ball and not throw it back?
