Rivaldo has signed with Qatar FA according to Qatar's technical director. This is absolutely hilarious that Rivaldo would play in the Middle East. Celtic or Bolton were reportedly the clubs all along that would sign him. The last sentence in the news article is too funny! Could this really be?!

Manfred Honer (QFA director) said: "I can't reveal figures, but if you are telling me Celtic and Bolton were willing to offer him £30,000 a week, I can only smile and say we are paying him much, much more."

He's smiling about paying that flopping mercenary much more than everybody else??? Madness.

Apparently Martin O'Neill would only offer Rivaldo a contract if he went on a trial, so Rivaldo threw all his toys out of his pram. Would have been interesting seeing Rivaldo at Bolton getting his career revived by Big Sam, but I can't say he's a big loss if his attitude is money first.

Still no word from Rivaldo. Qatar have once before made a similar declaratioon (not sure about who, maybe it was Rivaldo even), which turned out to be bogus.

They're not exactly reliable. I wouldn't be surprised if he goes to Qatar, but I'll wait for a better source.

Rivaldo is a fool. Anyone who signs on to play in Qatar is clearly after the cash and that is all. The league over there is terrible and he knows it. What a joke.

another greedy bugger is Anelka. He says he wants to stay in the middle east because he likes it there. Well it my be better than Manchester but i doubt he's going there for the footballing challenge. It's fair enough players that effectivally ended their carrers going there but he's still in his 20's.

Look at what happened to him when he moved to Milan. Maybe something like that is weighing in on his decision. Here's a chance for him to make some money before he retires. He is 32, afterall.

Exactly, I would of made the same decision if I was in his shoes.

And have respect he's one of the greatest players to ever play the game, his times up now, he needs stability in his life, and he needs money quick.

Yeah, he must be really short on money what with only getting £120,000 per week.

yeah, but after tax it must be down to a paltry £80000 or so a week. How can anyone live on that?

I doubt there's a Bolton or Celtic fan anywhere not delighted that he's buggered off to Qatar.

    ..................................................................................

Is not money first,is money..last! As to...last 2 years of
his carreer!!! You have to remeber that this great player
who played so well at Barcelona and almost had his career destroyed by a very bad, egomaniac coach who almost took Barcelona to second division-Van Gaal!!
And don;t forget right after he won the best player award( I don't recall, world or european) Ancelotti bought him to treat him like garbage ,on the bench all the time!!
Rivaldo is not a player to be treated like that! why do you
buy him and then treat him like that??
So I don;t blame Rivaldo for being reluctant to end his career maybe being substitute for ..Djorkaeff at Bolton!!
he's got 2 years left, why not take the money from people who got a lot of them and also will treat you like the star that you are??

Sure ,if its true about Qatar,I will be sad not to see this
nice, great, modest player couple more years In Europe, but after all its his life and we don't have any right to judge him!!
Its bad, egomaniac coaches that destroyed him and other great players like Ginola and Berger!!!
