    Hey Quake Fans:

We are working with the Quakes to try and get a few players out to this event. We are also partnering with the Santa Cruz Soccer Club to get the youngins out.

The Orca Sports Outdoor Adventure Movie Series presents 'Rise and Shine: The Jay DeMerit Story'

An amazing soccer documentary that tells an astonishing true story of a young American's impossible journey. Jay's dream of playing pro soccer in Europe seemed unreachable. Sleeping in an attic, painting houses and eating beans and toast to survive, Jay takes the most unlikely route to the top. Leaving for Europe with only $1500 and a backpack full of dreams. The film documents Jay’s journey from the bottom – playing in Sunday park leagues and lower level division London clubs earning pennies a week - to playing in the English Premier League and then for the US National Team in the 2010 World Cup.

'Rise and Shine' is the only soccer documentary with extensive amounts of high level soccer footage of the US National Team and the English Premier League, presented in high definition. A great movie for the real soccer fan.
This movie is a must see for the whole family. It could be a game or life changer for a young soccer player. 'Rise and Shine : The Jay DeMerit Story' is a story of perseverance, hard work and relentless belief in a dream.

Who's "we"? Is this a charity event? Thanks.

By the way, for those interested, I saw a pre-release (non-final) cut at Danny Coyle's in SF awhile back. It's an inspiring story and a worthwhile watch for soccer junkies. The version I saw needed editing, though, and I'm trusting that was accomplished.

Orca Sports Promotions, a Santa Cruz based soccer/fly fishing/ mountain bike outfit.

It isn't a charity event, although we are partnered with Santa Cruz County Youth Soccer Club and donated a bunch of tickets to them as well as Steven Lenhart's skateboard club. We also have a fair amount of prizes and giveaways donated by various local businesses.

    thanks for asking, Don. :)

Lenhart has confirmed his appearance and is all fired up. The Quakes are confirmed that they are donating swag for the giveaway/raffle. Lenny is trying to line up a few other teammates to be in attendance as well.
