Juan Roman Riquelme has said that he respects and doesn't question Luis Van Gaal's decision not to play him, although he added that if he was the Dutchman he would play himself.

Barcelona's big summer signing from Boca Juniors has been able to break into the first team this season in what is turning out to be a frustrating time for the youngster, however he doesn't seem to be disheartened.

The Argentine joked: "If I were Luis van Gaal I would always play myself."

He added: "I do not like to watch the match from the bench. For each game I believe I am going to be in the starting eleven, but it is necessary to respect what the manager decides.

"After the game, I do not request explanations. The coach does what he thinks is best for the team and I just concentrate on training."

"I am only thinking about fulfilling my five year contract. I will try to play my best and hopefully we will win many titles," he concluded.
