Coaching legend. http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/bundesliga/startseite/526829/artikel_Joerg-Berger-ist-tot.html
What I associate Berger most with was the rise of Eintracht Frankfurt in the late-1980s/early 1990s to one of the best ever club sides in the Bundesliga. Berger took over Frankfurt during the 1988-89 season when they were total rubbish. They continued to be totally rubbish during the remains of the season but somehow miraculously managed to not get relegated. Nobody expected anything from Frankfurt for the new season but another fight against relegation. But somehow the Eintracht management had pulled off two major signings in the summer of 1989, that of former Offenbach player Uwe Bein (signed from Hamburg) and that of former Frankfurt player Ralf Falkenmayer (signed from Leverkusen). That's what Frankfurt needed. Berger also managed to make Jorn Andersen one of the best center forwards in the Bundesliga that season (before that he was a lousy waster of goal chances). Eintracht became one hell of a team in the 1989/90 season, playing some awesome technically fluid football which was quite exceptional for that rather dull era in Bundesliga history (the best German players were all playing in Italy). Great guy Jörg Berger. RIP.
