I always think of him as saying , "And me, I'm Jerry Hubbard..." from Fernwood Tonight and later, America Tonight.

After cruising the neighborhood for deposit milk bottles I used to ride somebody's [:cautious:] bike to the corner variety store with a couple nickels my pockets to play the pinball machine. :whistling:

 When were pinball machines calibrated to take nickels? I'm old enough to remember three balls for a quarter, but that's about as far back as I go.

Back when I was in 8th or 9th grade, each mall had a video arcade where kids could go while their parents were shopping for whatever. Those were the days when you could register a high score on Galaxian or Galaga and you put your initials on the screen. I remember putting mine up one time at a bowling alley and the guy who was waiting for me to finish was like, "So you're A_P, huh? I saw your score at Play Palace last week. I beat it by just 200 points..." We shook hands and I went on my way. That's not real interaction, but it beat today's online gaming by a mile.

Me and two other classmates got one of our parents to drive us to the mall, give us each $5.00 and we were told to call back and they'd come get us. Well, one game led to another, and we were all broke when we decided it was time to call. So, we ended up going to this upscale women's store where this older girl we knew worked.

"Okay, what are y'all doing here?"
"We need a dime for the phone"
    "Where's your money?"
    "We don't have any money"
"You spent all your money at Play Palace. That's what happened"
"You gonna give us a dime or not?"
"Did you spend all your money at Play Palace?"
    "Yes"
"I'm gonna call your folks myself. If I gave you a dime, you'd spend it on something"

Willis Reed, Dave DeBuschere, Senator Bill Bradley, Dick Barnett and Walt Frazier, coached by Red Holtzman... What a team that was. There was also a forward coming off the bench named Phil Jackson who later became a pretty decent coach

We had a thread going in the Revs forum called "Cover songs better than the originals" and I definitely rated their version of "Fire" over Bruce Springsteen's original.

    RIP Bonnie

I'd say Aretha's Respect over Otis Redding's original.

Without question. Also, Aretha's Say a Little Prayer for You over Dionne Warwick's version and (duh) Marvin Gaye's Grapevine over Gladys Knight's original.

Joan Jett and the Blackheart's version of "I Love Rock n Roll" is way better than the original, done by some forgettable British group in the 70s. I also prefer the Joan Jett version of "Crimson and Clover" over the Tommy James version, but that's a personal preference.
