    All-Pro DE-- at 230 pounds.

To people my age, "old school" means the guys who started their careers when everybody still played both ways. Rotundbelli was one of those. He played with Crazy Legs Hirsch, Bob Waterfield and Norm Van Brocklin... his rookie year he played against Sammy Baugh...

My first year watching the NFL was his last.

Spiritual leader of the Giants defense in their championship years of the 50's-- without him Tom Landry maybe doesn't ever get the Dallas job.

Widely regarded as one of the great gentlemen of the game, on and off the field-- but nobody took him for soft.

Much is made, justifiably, of Deacon Jones as the greatest value pick in the history of the draft-- the greatest DE ever was a 14th rounder.

Well, Robustelli played at an All Pro level for championship teams--7 times an all pro, one world championship, 5 division titles, and the 1962 Player of the Year award-- as a 19th round selection... pretty good value there too.

    Died today at age 85.
