    Alan Ball, former Philadelphia Fury player and player-coach passed away this week of a heart attack at 61.

    To those of us who are 'old timers', and I guess at 36- I qualify, he'll be missed. My first 'favorite player' in the game, and a part of Philadelphia soccer history.

    He played when I was working there! A good guy who held the midfield together during his brief tenure, and who seemed to play some of his best ball against the Cosmos.
