Man watching Brazil absolutely shit on Honduras just shows you how much the AFA completely screwed up not just this olympics but football in general. I mean this Honduras team is truly horrendous. Its laughable the defending. Marquinhos just scored a goal where he literally had ages to shot the ball from inside the box. Neymar's goal off the press inside 15 seconds was equally laughable.
Honduras were forced to come out and play, especially after the early goal. They knew they could sit behind us and settle for a draw. Plus, Brasil took a decent with themselves. I am sure, if the likes of Dybala and Icardi were allowed to go our chances would be different. Personally, I wouldn't really care if Brasil ended up winning the gold if it didn't come under our expense, but during these Olympics, the brasilenos in the stand,s for every competition have booed and jeered Argentine athletes. So, I hope Nigeria or Germany end up winning this entire thing.
I actually agree that with a better team, you guys would almost certainly have reached the elimination stage. As for us jeering your athletes, consider it payback for the unpleasant behavior of many Argentines in my country 2 years ago, especially with that "Brasil, tell me what you feel" and some of you showing of plastic spinal columns in mockery of Neymar's injury. See you in the Sul-Americana and one day again in the Libertadores.
Is this sarcasm? I have no idea when these competitions will be played, I have no idea if we have a coach for said competitions, and what sorts of squads said coach would take.
Not sarcasm. CONMEBOL holds U-20 and U-17 competitions on odd-numbered years, which means that in early 2017, we'll have a U-20 (held in Ecuador) and not too long after, a U-17. You guys have historically produced good players whose caliber became evident when they were still very young, and the U-20 is a perfect time for every country of CONMEBOL to produce the best possible team... after of course searching for and finding the best prospects. Your federation is in a difficult position, but if you guys manage to clean house soon enough, you should be able to assemble a competitive team for the 2017 U-20.
Just curious, how many Brasilian's were prevented going to Rio and play for the Sub 23 team? Banter in futbol(Or even volleyball) is one thing but to jeer athletes who much have day jobs is pretty weak.
Interesting of you to ignore my points and to attempt to change the direction of the conversation. The behavior by many Argentines in Brazil in 2014 banter was extremely rude, but apparently you lack any autocrítica, to understand that. Anyway, as I told RiverGaucho, there's a U-20 coming in early 2017. We'll see each other there.
What points? I said there is banter in futbol and who cares if it was rude, banter isn't meant to be friendly. My point was jeering on random athletes just because they are from Argentina and you approve it because it is "payback" for 2 years ago. This conversation is over, now hop back over to your village, Century's Worst.
You obviously are ignorant of your own compatriots' conduct - either that, or you think your fellow Argentine fans can do no wrong. Either way, it's pointless to discuss with somebody who thinks thusly. It is over when I say it is over - hope to see your team in the Sul-Americana or the Libertadores again. I'm sure you haven't forgotten 2012.
The Brazilian fans at every venue have been rude and uncouth. Many athletes have felt uncomfortable not just those of Argentina. Brazil is not fit to hold an Olympics ever again. The jeering of the French pole vaulter for instance was just one of numerous examples I have witnessed. The Brazilian fans are so pathetic they even booed Argentine officials/judges at events.
Your fans have outdone ours - such as in that tennis match. Not fit ever again? Not your call. That's unfortunate, but as I wrote above, the behavior of many of you 2 years ago was abhorrent. Fans from other national teams were nowhere as "rude and uncouth" as the Argentines (with a few isolated incidents of drunk Chileans excepted). Not to mention other times when Argentine fans booed Brazilian teams/athletes. As far as Argentine teams/athletes being jeered, you guys are simply harvesting what you've sown.
I watched the del Potro matches. Any time the Argentine fans started one of their supportive chants the locals started to boo and whistle. After this farrago of a Games, venues incomplete, the behaviour of the locals, the empty venues it will be a very long time before you get the chance. Abhorrent behaviour ? Other countries seem to be able to take the idea of sarcasm and lampooning but Brazilians are obviously very thin skinned to call a few chants abhorrent. And as for Argentines being the victims. Well numerous athletes have made their feelings known about the jeering and catcalls. As I said even to the extent of booing one medallist on the podium. It's not the sort of behaviour one expects of a hosting crowd at a Games. Yes you get behind your athletes as at London but you also have the decency to afford respect to athletes representing other countries. We were very magnanimous in our support to athletes from all over the world and at the last Rugby World Cup. And when it comes to football ? Bwwwaaazzzziiillllllllllllll................ Most Brazilians seem to think it revolves around Pele and his mates. The very possibility any Argentine players are superior brings them into paroxysms of anger, vitriol and hyperbolic nonsense.
Personally, I believe that there are certain cultural differences between us and you that may exacerbate an already existing rivalry. Perhaps - perhaps - the chants and songs you guys are used to there and interpret as simply part of your soccer folklore are not ill-intentioned, but in Brazil, they were not well received. And given our historic rivalry, you couldn't expect us to take your chants any other way. In 2014, that little chant of yours (which your NT itself sang) was rude. Calling yourselves Brazil's "papá" considering that in the previous several years, the balance has been overwhelmingly in Brazil's favor and that in the 20-plus year period in which your NT has won no cups, we've won several... not only nonsensical, but very provocative. Like the supporter of Tigre a few posts before, it appears you lack the ability to see your own flaws. We won't host the Olympics again? You cannot possibly predict that; it may take decades, indeed long after you and I are both dead. That's your conjecture, nothing more. And no, we don't think the soccer world is limited to us. We know and acknowledge other talent elsewhere, and for you to come up with such a ludicrous claims makes me question just how much you know about soccer to begin with. Last but not least, we're on our turf. You Argentines make no apologies for any questionable behavior you've engaged in when in your country.
Not really. Some of your compatriots are a bit thin-skinned, that's all. Enjoy the rest of the Olympics
the French pole vault debacle was despicable booed him not once but twice...not cool and not what the Olympics are supposed to be about
I agree it was awful behavior against a classy individual. But you @condor were outed as a xenophobe in the CA-C thread, not much room for judging others.
was I? news to me... paranoid people exist everywhere including in that thread so I will judge those who booed the medal ceremony even if the the pole vaulter should not have compared his treatment to Nazi Germany..the Brazilian had won so why boo him?
It eerily reminded me of our 1990 match, when we hit the crossbar a few times. See you around, Argentines. WCQ is back very soon.
Grats to Brazil. It's not like I would've been that happy if Germany won either. Pretty exciting final. Couldn't script it better drama wise.
