Titus is back in the A-League with the Charleston Battery. I wish him the best.

As a funny side note, Jamar Beasley signed with them, too. For those who cruise over to the Yanks Abroad forums, Beasley was the subject of a massive thread tracking his progress in some backwater Italian Seria C or D team. With all the replies, you'd have thought he was McBride or Reyna. A lot of the posts were seriously trying to see how he was doing, many alleging to be first hand confidents of DMB and boyhood friends from Indiana and giving inside info, but there were a lot that were basically "don't you guys have something better to obsess on?" It was hysterical. It had this weird momentum that just went on and on.

Why did Titus leave in the first place? Wouldn't a team want to keep their defender of the year?

    We're glad to have him!

Can you tell me a bit about what type of Defender he is? (strong in the air, quick on the wings, etc)We had the number one defense last year in the A-league and this season it looks to be getting better and better.

Hankinson used to coach the Battery and recieved a warm welcome back when we played your boys during the USOC last year so maybe he put a word or two in for Titus here.

He was waived by the team. Before the end of last season, he spoke out in the press, or what passes for soccer press in Denver, and said he thought he was going to be released at the end of the season. He did not get along with Hankinson at all. The Rapids gave up a lot of goals last year and I think tensions ran high a lot of the time. You could tell that from the limited coverage in the papers. More than that, I am not sure what the basis for the antipathy was. Titus did take a senior international spot and Hankinson probably thought he could do better with it, such as his signings of Zizi Roberts and Gilles Grimandi. But it seemed that there was a lot more to it than that and I do not have any inside information on the specifics. The Rapids never addressed it directly.
