I just read in the Richmond Times that Air Canada will be offering direct flights between Richmond and Toronto. That was the good news. The bad news was a I checked prices and round trip on a random June weekend leaving on a Fri and coming back on a Sun ran $630. But might be worth keeping an eye out for specials.
Comblowus is a must go road trip for Richmond folks. We can practically do it cheaper than a United match at RFK now! Depending upon when the games are and when Skybus announces the next rounds of flights for purchase, we could end up all getting $10 seats. They're doing 2 flights each direction every day now instead of just 1. At least I have a chance of flying home the same day if I miss my plane again
They released the schedule. There is a Toronto game on Wed May 21. Skybus now flies to Niagria Falls. I just checked and depending on the days you go you can get a round trip ticket for around $150 you would have kill a 5 hours (I think) in the Columbus airport but it is doable. I have no idea how far it is from Niagra to Toronto however.
it's like a 2 hour drive, did it once before. Unfortunately I'm in the studio for this one. how's columbus looking?
Columbus is the last game of the season and it's on a Sunday at 5:00 That means you either have to book two nights hotel or leave at the crack of dawn Sunday morning. But by then, who knows if that game will even mean anything? Kind of like last year.
Skybus won't let you buy tickets for that one yet. The combination of Sunday game and last game of the year kind of remove the fun out of traveling. I might still go for the hell of it.
I'll be there. Tickets at Skybus are only on sale through July right now. I'm on their email list so whenever they release new dates, they send me something. Easy to fly in Sunday morning, fly back early on Monday morning. $40.83 is a pretty cheap start to the trip
I'm gonna look into the Columbus trip, there's no guarantees considering I will have a 3 month old baby at that time. But I'll see what I can muster up
I know this thread has been dead for a while, but I just read that Skybus has folded...so much for the Columbus trip through them...
And thus dies my plans for an easy trip to Columbus. I was curious so here are the travel times and distances if we ever pull of a real RVA road trip besides our usual journey. Columbus Total Est. Time: 7 hours, 42 minutes Total Est. Distance: 476.96 miles Philadelphia - I am sure there will be Barra and SE busses but I'll probably drive up and make a weekend of it Total Est. Time: 4 hours, 26 minutes Total Est. Distance: 252.39 miles Toronto Total Est. Time: 10 hours, 51 minutes Total Est. Distance: 654.79 miles NY - Take the Barra or SE bus Dallas Total Est. Time: 19 hours, 24 minutes Total Est. Distance: 1276.65 miles Houston Total Est. Time: 20 hours, 26 minutes Total Est. Distance: 1327.22 miles Salt Lake Total Est. Time: 31 hours, 30 minutes Total Est. Distance: 2144.00 miles LA Total Est. Time: 38 hours, 13 minutes Total Est. Distance: 2619.09 miles San Jose (never would have thought that Seattle and San Jose were almost the exact same distance from RVA) Total Est. Time: 42 hours, 16 minutes Total Est. Distance: 2878.02 miles Seattle Total Est. Time: 42 hours, 35 minutes Total Est. Distance: 2862.83 miles So who is up for a 42.5 hour drive?
Kansas City is only about 18 hours/1100ish miles, which isn't bad when split between two drivers (I know this for a fact!). I think drive times also vary depending on who's behind the wheel...I can probably get us to Columbus in 6. Hehe.
