Played one of the best games of his life. Mater Dei's finest graduate came through yet again, and proved to Bruce why he should be on the national team. I will be sure to give congrats to the former coach, who still teaches at MD.

  2. Agree. I never thought I would be writing this, but so far Richie Williams has played very well for the Metro. Tonight he was very solid. He always reads the game well but sometimes he seemed incapable of making a play. Tonight I can't think of anything he really did wrong. He is showing more versatility than merely being the ankle biting D-mid whose only role is to create chaos in the midfield.

I loved it when he out cobied cobi. still wish less of the attack was going through him, as it isn't his strength.

    Pigs Eye (St. Paul),
For a d-mid he's good on the ball. Swithches well, dribbles, reads well, and he had a pretty good volley tonight on goal. Not too many fouls tonight as I recall.

I third the motion for Richie Williams as MOTM.
He was superb tonight. Big save to hug the post in OT to help Timmy & the boys.

Richie Williams improving with age. And some of you are concerned about his involvement with the offense, at least a few times he created some chances with a quick touch to find an open man, because LA wasn't looking for him to create a quick opportunity. That made his distribution of the ball look very nice. Just a flick and his teammates were off to the races.

    What?

What's this....people talking good about Richie? I assume this thread would be about how he should be out of the league for another suck performance. A positive Richie thread, I guess anything can happen.

I simply started this because he played great. The fact he went to MD and played great makes it even better.... If only we could get someone like him to help the soccer team...we need real help.

I agree....Williams was MOTM for the 2nd week in a row! But can someone please tell me why the team is still sending in balls in the air to a player who could head a ball rolling on the ground? Come on Metro....play the ball to the munchkins feet!

    guevara & williams

Guevara & Williams are going to make an awesome pairing in midfield. Williams impressed me with his ball control, and it looked like Guevara could tell that Williams would not lose the ball if passed to, and would do something good with it.

It's going to be an awesome year for Richie Williams.
