Good job by Palace defense playing Man U offsides on the free kick.

 

Richards comes up for the good interception and puts it on his striker, but nothing comes of it.

 

Beautiful cheeky football from Palace and the shot goes just wide.

Richards' pressure started the sequence for the first goal, but Palace managed so many passes in or around the final third after RIchards won the ball that he might not show up in the highlights there.

Palace equalized via a Pinnock own goal in about the 60th minute. Palace don't look at their best compared to late last season. Richards only OK vs his standard; Guehi playing below his standard in potentially one of his final Palace matches.

 

Couple of fortunate bounces after a cross lead to a Wissa goal putting Brentford up 2-1. Richards was originally in position to make the play, but went to cover Wissa, who was going to get the ball prior to a deflection, and it fell to the guy Richards was previously guarding. I was originally going to blame him a bit, but I think this falls more into the "stuff happens" category - he was trying to make the right play.

 

Richards comes off in a double sub in the 84th minute, as Palace chase an equalizer. Not a great match for him with the two concessions. Notably not that strong in the air today.

Richards looks like he got a little thicker over the summer. Shows up in the corner kick wrestling matches.

 

Richards has looked very good today to my eyes. It seems to me he plays much better on the left for whatever reason.
