shoot..I was about to post that news

I want Nielsen. He's gonna be 100 times better than ANY Korean coaches we have right now.

He has led Denmark win the Euro 1992. He also made led Israel recently and beat Russia 3-1 and tied Spain 1-1.

Most of all, he WANTS to be the coach of Korea. He has even said that he would even coach the pro team of a K-League team if not the Korean NT.

When a world class coach like him WANTS to become our coach and requests the KFA to consider him, I say we deal this issue more seriously and not just repeat "this time we'll just choose from some Korean pro club coaches."

The article is about how Nielsen was moved by how the Korean team played at WC2002 and how he wants to end his career at Korea.

Does Cho have any say in picking the coach? I thought was up to the technical director?

This choice make sense for Korea. Nielson is a proven coach like Hiddink and I feel his style definitely benefit Korea for the future. I really enjoyed watching the Danes playing simple attacking soccer. His style was direct attack like Hiddink's and it plays right into Korean style of play. Although I'm for Hiddink coming back for 2006, part of me just want to see him end on a high note. Nielson is a coach who deserves a lot of respect and I for one would love to see him coach our team instead of any Korean coach candidates. I hope the KFA sees to notice that our players need to learn European system to be succesful against powerful competition. I just pray Cho Kwang-rae or Huh Jung-moo isn't given another chance.

    Forget about Nielsen.
Technical director, Kim Jin-Guk said on interview that he will give Korean coach chance first.

    http://kr.dailynews.yahoo.com/headlines/sp/20021101/dongacom/do2002110186385.html

They will discuss issues like wether they will hire foreign coach or not in committee meeting.
KFA technical chairman, Kim Jin-Guk said "Primarily, we are considering hiring Korean coach for Olympic team"
It was Kim's judgement to give some hope for Korean coaches.
    ....
Kim also said "we dont need to appoint coach for national team since there will be only around 10 A matches till 2004"

well the one they'll hire tomorrow is the Olympics team coach.

Hopefully they decide to have separate coaches for the Olympics team and the National team so that Nielsen can be picked for the NT.

************!! They hired stinking Kim Ho-Gon..
this guy is piece of garbage. (he's barely staying on his club cuz he sux)

Busan Icon was good team (one of top team at that time) when he took over, then next 3 years, Busan struggled bad and always finished at near the bottom of standing.

1st, he has no tactic. (thats his tactic) he just watches the game and curse at his own players, he even beat up his own players during half time.

2nd, he has weird selective favorism on some players. He never liked players like Ahn and Song, so he benched them often. (remember Song Jong-Guk was a bench warmer before worldcup)

3rd. He failed in k-league, he failed to farm any young prospects while he was there, instead he ruined many good players (Lee Min Sung, Jang Dae-il, Sim Jae-won etc)

4th, he used outdated sweeper system with man marking (3back). his club's defense is one of worst in k-league despite he has good defenders compare to others.

His club lost to Suwon 4-1 then next day he was selected as Olympic coach, WTF is wrong with KFA?

    god damnit..

If anyone can check Busan Icon's message boards, fans are cheering cuz they finally got rid of stinking coach.

I thought Kim Ho-gon was supposed to take over the Olympic team only, and a foreign coach is to come in next year.

    I hope so.

    http://www.sportschosun.com/news/sports/200211/20021104/2bd08002.htm

According to the article, the coaches for the Olympics and for the NT will be different. So we still have a spot for the NT coach.

I don't like the argument of the article.

It mentions that hiring an expensive foreign coach soley for our NT is inefficient since we'll only have 4~6 A matches next year.

I fully disagree. Whichever foreign coach comes as the NT, he'll be busy as hell learning the Korean football by going to K-League games and watching the Olympics team play to analyse and pick the players. It just means that the new head coach will have more time to fully disect the Korean football and will make him plan things out thoroughly. It also means more chance of finding the diamond out of roughs like Chong-gug Song or Namil Kim.

As for Hogon Kim, well, what can I say. Stupid KFA. Of all the Korean coaches, why him? He was one of the candidates in late 1998(in which Jung-moo Huh was eventually picked). Sounds like µ¹·Á¸Ô±â to me.

Didn't the koreans lerarned out of the mistakes with the former coaches?

And Nielsen spoke to the KFA first, right? For god's sake, they had the chance to get a coach probably for the next four years, who was about to give everything for the job, cause he declared it to be his last.

Hopefully, the korean players from abroad like Song, Ahn, Cha, Seol and Lee will learn enough to compensate the mistakes such a dumba$$.

BTW: That is a hell of an unfair deal in my eyes. Hiring a coach, while knowing exactly he will be sacked after two years.
Awkward situation for Kim. Seems like he had no other chance, to get a job as a coach, huh?

Song wrote in his autobiography how he was constantly beaten up by Hogon Kim when he was a University player(Hogon Kim was his Univ. coach too and then later became his pro club coach).

Song wrote "whatever happened to the team, I was always the one that got beaten up. But I never expressed any anger. There was this another friend of mine who got frequently beaten up too, but he used to say 'I'm enduring it just becaused of you. You get beaten up far more than I do and yet you don't say a thing.' to me."

It must be a nightmare for Song to be coached by Hogon Kim. Good thing that Song is now 23 and won't be participating in the Athens 2004(or would he as a wild card?).
