He had to shade/cheat out due to Koop overlapping with no cover. It happened again and again in the first half - so much so that I was complaining about it in the pbp thread right before the goal. Yildiz is an exceptional player, even at 19. Koop is very, very good as well. Ledezma is no way good - or experience - enough to handle that kind of flooding his zone. I think Bosz really dropped the ball there. Dunno what he was thinking.

  2. Well, we Dutch have a saying you have to row the boat with the oars you've got (You have to make do with what you have).
Bakayoko and Veerman not for nothing were rated the worst of the team and both contributed hugely to Ledezma being over whelmed.
These two simply were awol on Richie's flank.

100%. It's crazy to me you look at a line-up with those two and a relatively inexperience RB and you don't have a plan to handle the overlap... Juventus attack has not be overwhelming this year, but it's been plenty good enough to be prepared for what was coming. I'm a big Bosz fan, but he fell asleep at the switch here.

Then the idea that Richie was hung out to dry is close to gospel

I think Ledezma also could have done better, of course, but I was really paying a lot of attention to his side as I'd never seen him against this kind of competition and I was relatively impressed by his play, but PSV ran out a very tradition 4-3-3 in an away game against stiff competition with strong wide attack. Juve's unbalanced 4-3-3 had McKennie more central - not exactly as the right side of a 2 man CM pair, but for sure not on the wing very often. And Locatelli hung back a lot, playing just in front of the back 4 often. That allowed Koop to play more outside, esp in attack. Vlah had like 10 touches the entire 1st half, because all the attack was wide. Yildiz shot was amazing as well, and Cambiaso made a great run to pull the D out of shape, but Ritchie faced that double-team overlap a bunch of times in the 1st half and there was not adjustment.

Ledezma didn't start or make the bench in PSV's 3-1 away win at Sittard.

His replacement at RB, Mauro Junior, was replaced on 65' by summer signing Karsdorp.

Was he injured or given a rest after a rough night midweek?

Ledezma is not a Right Back.

But, it serves a purpose. It gets him minutes again & most importantly some of his speed, explosiveness & quick agility has returned.

I expect (just like Weah) for Ledezma to get more minutes again in midfield (his more natural position).

I looked when he didn't make the squad and didn't see any reports at all. Junior coming back and Karsdorp getting game fit will affect Ledezma's minutes fairly soon. Dams is also playing out of position, and Junior has played some RB for PSV, I think, so Ritchie will likely still figure some, but I think his regular starts are at risk

He was out with a minor injury. I saw a lot of Dutch fans disappointed he wasn’t starting. I bet he will be the starter when fit again. Mauro Junior is a left back but looked fine, Kardsdorp genuinely looked bad.

I would expect Junior to replace Dams. Bosz obviously still doesn't feel Karsdorp is game fit yet. Whether he will think Ledezma is the best option once Karsdorp is game fit remains to be seen. There's always a bit of pressure to play the Dutchies.

It's funny how PSV sometimes decides it won't tell you what "time" it is during a match. I guess I'll have to reset my watch to include Richy time.

He replaced Guus Til so I’m guessing he played midfield?

Whoops, just this moment Sparta scores 0-1.

    Finished 2-1 to PSV

Richie was subbed off tactically on 83 minutes

I only listened to this one, old school, as I did some stuff in the garage. Was RL at FB or midfield? The lineup I saw on-line had him behind Junior at RFB and the Karsdorp sub suggests that, but elsewhere I saw him lined up at RM.

The fotmob.com ticker indicates it was an injury sub, probably since he was down for a short bit immediately before coming off. But it looked more like the typical late-game cramping than anything more dubious.

  24. According to the "Telegraaf" this was his position, which is more in line with what I saw:

Since PSV were reduced to 10 men just after half time, the lineups from magazines and newspapers aren't going to tell us much.

That said, the (very brief) highlights that are available show him in midfield or just behind the attack and Mauro Junior, who's played RB quite a bit this season started as well. Unlike Richie, he went the distance and was clearly playing as a defender after the red card.

IMO Richie started in front of the Back 4 on the right of the the two mids, with Junior as the RB
