Richard “Richie” Ledezma at PSV Eindhoven

Discussion in 'Yanks Abroad' started by TheFalseNine, Jul 7, 2018.

  1. One asset overlooked by many for a footballer are his brains. Combine that with Richie's obvious technical abilities and you will be able to shapeshift into other positions.

I watched Ledezma’s play a couple days ago. He has the speed to be a LB or RB which most #10’s lack. Of course his passing was great.

I had the feeling he was holding back a bit from making a more difficult pass at times or dribbling up centrally if there was open space. Certainly the nature of a more defensive position, and maybe a good thing he didn’t “try” stuff, but I also wonder if we can expect to see more from Ledezma if he continues to get starts.

Yeah, my impression too was he was mostly just trying not to screw it up big time - and mission accomplished. Hopefully Teze keeps giving Bosz a hard time and we get to see a more ambitious Ledezma over there. He did not get forward or overlap much at all - and that is where he should be most useful as a FB.

kimmich did the same for Bayern

and john obrien (a very smart player as well) did the same for AJAX - outside back at club and CM for national team

hpefully this versatility and the manager's belief richie can adapt anywhere on the field will keep him in the lineup/roster this season.....all he needs is a chance

Yeah that was my impression also for the most part. I did think that he looked like he was trying to be more assertive in the second half, possibly because he was told to.

He tried to combine with Bakayoko a few times but Johan did not see him, or chose not to see him. That doesn't really strike me as Johan's game if you known what I mean. Maybe with a different guy in front of him it would have come off.

Yeah, I only watched the 1st half and it felt like his CDs were looking for him to overlap and he was playing it safe - which is a good choice your first game in the position, I think. I'm interested to see what happens when he gets a bit more confident. May Teze continue to tantrum!

There will be no late #MLS move for Richie Ledezma, per sources.
As previously reported, there was interest from several clubs including LAFC, Portland Timbers, San Jose and others.
However, Ledezma is planning to stay and fight for long-term PSV role.

This is the way! Best move for Richie. stay and fight!

(btw curiously ....lots of MLs interest for a player who many have written off...no?)

    @adam tash being like this??

Which is fair. Nobody else thought Ledezma had any future at PSV but it looks as if he might.

Early days of course and both starts have come against (rock) bottom feeders that wouldn't look out of place in the USL, but it's exceptionally encouraging for the lad

  13. Well, I was the only one supporting him in that opinion.

Then another one for you too ;)

Then again, you actually watch Eredivisie matches (Erstedivisie games too no doubt) and have seen the guy play or at least read the standard Dutch sports press analyses of his PSV II outings (where "standard Dutch = detailed and exceptionally analytical). And it shows

He has the same 2-3 posts for every single player.

no i dont....which other players are you referring?

i know I was one of the few back haji....and also one of the few backing weston at juve....and CP at chelsea (which, in hindsight, was clearly more about that club than CP)

in general, yes, I am much more bullish on americans that the average poster on here....but you wont see me going overboard if the player doesnt merit it....or show signs

you cannot say I am expecting every single american to be a star player or something....its not like im crying for cole bassett or hoppe or something

i think i just pickup on when americans are getting mistreated.....another one is gio at dortmund. i dont think his treatment there has been reflective of his performance. ....

  17. Ritchie was subbed because of a spasm. It's challenging all of a sudden to play that much:D

What position did he play in? If it's RB again, then that's what they see him as going forwards.

Maybe they see him as their own version of Trent Alexander-Arnold

I didn’t see the game. What type of spasm? Back? Calf? Something else? Did it look serious or just a cramp?
