Whoa! He risen. Didn’t see the match. Just going off stats and stats alone but seems like Richie had a good match. A solid 7.1 rating from FotMob with some nice states…. 34/36 accurate passing 2/2 accurate long balls 2 balls into final third 0/2 crossing 1 clearance off line 1 block 1 interception 4 recoveries 0/1 ground duels No shabby for deputizing at RB. Are we going to see more? I hope so.
I was half watching - he was pretty invisible, but RKC is terrible. Didn't see the clearance off the line, so that would be cool if true.

Teze did end up playing, so on the one hand, it's great for Ledezma that he didn't make Bosz look like a dingaling by giving anything away, but sadly this is probably not a permanent solution to anything.
The thing for Richie is that he’s expensive. The non-EU minimum salary in the Eredivisie is high. PSV is one of the few Dutch clubs that can afford those salaries, but it’s still a high price, even for them. They are not going to spend that type of money on a 24 year-old who is a seldom used bench player. They can find seldom used bench players who are much cheaper. Richie is in the final year of his contract. Right now he is playing to boost his profile and increase his options. The only way he stays at PSV is to prove that he can be an impact player and one who is going to be on the field a lot. He needs to prove that he is much better than existing European players who will not require a huge salary it is a very high standard he has to meet to stay at PSV, or anywhere in the Eredivisie.
With so many of our players this is key. Over the years a lot of our best prospects didn't make it because of injuries.
"Right now" he's playing to woodshed Teze. If he can turn that into a utility sub, that's a step up for him - at least since his first promising sr. season. If PSV/Bosz end up feeling like he's useful to pressure Teze longterm, or even to fill in here and there in the FB/Midfield he'll have a better shot at a decent transfer. PSV's actual starting midfield/attacking wing line up is so stacked - and ambitious - I don't see him breaking in there in any serious way. He's just not shown enough attacking power to believe he'll ever be a better long-term choice than Tillman, Baka, Lang, Chucky et al.
With his contract ending, he can begin negotiating with clubs in January. I just don't see him sticking around in the Eredivisie. The question then becomes where? Clubs in Liga MX and MLS seem likely to be involved. He's going to have to have a huge few months to get offers from clubs in the "bigger" European leagues. It's all just speculating, of course. Again, I'd be surprised if PSV re-up him. But stranger things have happened and I get surprised by club decisions on a weekly basis. The minimum salary for a non-EU player in the Eredivisie is €500,048 in 2024.
well whatever happens I hope peeople in this forum can realize richie is plenty good enough for PSV.....he is. maybe he isnt good enough to be a "DP" for PSV.....but he is at the level of that team as a player. only economic factors would prevent it....but on a pure soccer basis....he's clearly good enough. if he had an EU passport it wouldnt even be a question.
i just think he's a good player who has been unlucky and find it lame how the yanks abroad followers on here seem to love to pile on to his misfortune and kick him when he's down they did the same to haji wright and mckennie etc
Yeah, he needs to get more Teze-fueled luck, and bump up the minutes. Not sure if he wants to stay in the Ered, but if he can get halfway decent PT over the next few months and is willing to sign again at the minimum, I could see him getting another Ered contract. I'm just not sure he's going to get one any place he's going to emerge a key player. Tho Aaronson is supposedly getting 800k or so. He seems very well-liked at PSV, just not quite impactful enough to get minutes.
Bosz pumping and pimping for Ritchie at the post-game press-conference. "Get up there," the Head Coach began. "Wanting and needing to be champions again is tough, but we showed today that we can do it. I noticed beforehand that the group had the right mentality and on the field it was no different. They were sharp, fierce and it looked good." Richard Ledezma was at right back today, which pleased Bosz. "That he was good on the ball, we already knew, but whether he would stand up defensively was the question. But he did very well. He is actually a ten, of course, but he can also play at six. Because of his football intelligence, he can hold his own everywhere." https://www.psv.nl/en/media/artikel...zeer-lovend-over-voetballend-duo-en-invallers
Adam going berserk Leading footy magazine Voetbal International Team of the Week matchday 1: Elftal van de Week: Didillon-Hödl; Ledezma, Rente, Van Hoorenbeeck, Boscagli; Schouten, Tillman, Halilovic; Schreuders, Lammers, Rui Mendes
In a weird way Ledezma may be the closest approximation we have for Dest and maybe PSV decided that first. If he can get any run of games in that spot he should get a callup to see how he fits with the national team. Of course the new coach may want different things than all out attacking right backs. Varas might be intrigued. I'm interested in what he does as I thought the U20's he coached looked the best of any US team I've ever seen. That was against lesser level so not suggesting he's pep but let's see if he can replicate during friendlies or it was a mirage.
When two former top players (van Bommel CL winner/WC finalist etc.; van Nistelrooij topscorer in the epl/eredivisie/La Liga etc.) who worked with him extensively and are very positive about you, and now Bosz too, one can safely assume Ritchie has qualities. It's more about the qualities of the others that define how much playing time he will get. The midfield quality of the PSV players is very high.
https://www.vi.nl/nieuws/psv-heeft-vervanger-teze-al-in-huis-kan-in-meeste-wedstrijden-meer-brengen Praise from a footy analyst: Then it is about the transfer fee that PSV could get for Teze. An amount of around ten million euros is mentioned. "It's not normal, they're almost obliged to say yes. One year for Teze, who is easily replaceable," continues Perez, who saw Ledezma do nice things in the position as a right-back. The American is known for being an attacking midfielder by origin. "Ledezma has done a good job. He really thought like a defender and keeps running towards the goal, often getting in front of his man. He did very well," concluded Perez, who thinks Ledezma is almost better than Teze. 'You almost improved compared to Teze. It has a somewhat different role as well. Teze has more speed, but I think Ledezma can bring more to most matches. Especially offensively.'
When his contract was extended PSV hadn't won the league for 6 years, crashing out of CL qualifying in 4 of those and out of EL qualifying in another. The one year they did qualify, they finished bottom of their group.. This season, they're straight into the group stage and have ambitions of going further than the first knock-out round, which they narrowly failed to get past last season, as well as defending their title. PSV's midfield requirements in 2024-25 will be on a level they haven't reached for a very long time, probably since Guus Hiddink was in charge and, as @feyenoordsoccerfan noted, their midfield already has impressive depth, certainly by Eredivisie standards and probably by Top 5 standards. Any PT will be an achievement. Regular PT genuinely impressive.
A position change for Ritchie could be a lifeline. It's not that he's not a good CAM, it's that that's the most competitive position in footie, most of the time. All the notice for Ledezma is great, but it's a bit of a "Rudy" response, I think - "unhearlded kid steps up!" Admittedly I only 1/2 watched the first 45, and Ledezma did not look out of his depth, but I doubt any regular Ered watcher, had it been Teze instead of Ritchie playing like that, would have called him out as exceptional. But stepping into a new position and not getting lost or wrong-footed is a great start. (Also RKC were really still on vacation. They're not a great team and they were not good by their not-great standards.) But it would be awesome if PSV/Bosz saw Ledezma as able to plug some gaps. With Teze, Baka, Chucky and others rumored on the move, there might be spots for him across the line-up here and there. He's for sure able to hang in this league, so I hope he gets more chances.
Spaeking of Guus Hiddink and PSV's last period at the CL's top end, it's worth recalling that his go-to LW was another YA Da Marcus Beasley. He never really kicked on as an LW but he reinvented himself as an LB in Liga MX before becoming a Houston stalwart for several seasons. Richie definitely has the qualities of an Eredivisie #10 and possibly at its upper end - why else did PSV extend his contract - but doing it at PSV may be a bridge too far. Maybe a similar reinvention is on the cards here.? If it's a choice between No. 10 at, say, Utrecht or even rotator No. 2 at PSV, I know which one I'm taking.
