The kid is definitely a midfielder a bit slight build, but he's gotten stronger in the past 12 months. For him to play fullback he needs to have recovery speed which he doesn't have. His biggest asset is his sweet crosses, always on the money.

Back in early 2022, i stated for the World Cup, Richard Ledezma could still maybe make it just based on his Elite potential (of course pending injury recovery).

    He was born with:

    1) Elite intelligence
    2) Elite vision
    3) Elite technical ability
    4) Elite finishing
    5) Elite crossing ability
    6) Elite close-quarters agility. (ability to even spin on a dime w/ the ball).

Had decent level total athletic ability (straight line speed/strength/recovery ability).

    To summarize his traits:

His 2019 U-20 World Cup dazzling performance vs France. He was arguably the most impressive player on the pitch that featured a lot of future Champions league/top-5 league players.

    But the Injuries.

    Sometimes they take years.

Aaron Ramsey (Arsenal days) was always a litmus test for me. Sometimes it could take up to 2-3 years for a player to get back to his highest level.

This recent goal was the one I was waiting for. He is getting there again.

But he needs to be playing 90 minutes on a regular basis & in a position he can further succeed (RW/RM/ACM/LW/LM).

It's impressive to have came back from major injury and a period where he looked like his career was heading downhill fast.

Now he's a high floor utility player that has earned trust in a pretty competitive squad. At the least, he's probably shown enough to be able to stay at a decent European level if he doesn't end up sticking at PSV

    6 of the last 7...

Next couple of games will be interesting. Kardorp was out v. Utrecht, but on the bench for Twente and Junior will probably be out till winter break. Ledezma could not have done much more with his 2 starts, as PSV scored 11 goals and he got one. Not a lot of turnaround to Tuesday, but Bosz has to be considering going with the hot hand (or boot).

Could he take Tillman's position if PSV gets an offer they can't refuse?

Probably depends which position you're talking about. Recently Tillman has been the CM in the 3, which I guess Ledezma could play, but I don't recall seeing him play it much. But Malik has also played RM in the 3, LW in the front 3 and LM in the 3. Ledezma for sure *can* play RM in a 3. Saibari is supposed to be the subject of serious big club interest and Chucky is off to SD after Xmas, I believe, so there might be some room in midfield. Junior was playing that CM role right before he got hurt. He should be back after winter break. Much will come down to how Bosz feels about what Kardorp has done since his arrival vs. Ledezma. I'd say Junior (if he can stay healthy - big if) gets into a regular midfield role before RL, but if Tillman were to make a surprise exit at winter break (there's no indication I've seen) there would be some openings in midfield.

His "problem" at PSV is that once Dest returns to form and fitness, he's the third-choice RB and unless Karsdorp gets injured or PSV decline their option, the road to PT at the back closes. On top of which PSV's progress in the league and the CL means that even if they do decline Karsdorp's option, they'll surely sign an upgrade on him in the summer.

Before this season, he had as many first-team appearances out wide (RW or LW) as through the middle but his reserve and youth games were always through the middle: DM, CM (75% of games), AM or SS. Lozano and Perisic are leaving and Bakayoko will attract a lot of offers, but who from the likes of Lang on the left or Til or Saibari in the middle can he leapfrog for starter/rotator?

The lad has shown real grit to get back into the frame and will surely earn his championship medal but he's 24 at a club with an up-or-out squad strategy and a strong academy.

Having insisted that spot minutes were his ceiling in his final season this year, I'm in no position to say what he will or won't do there in the future. What is clear is that he has a good deal to offer EL or Conference sides in the Tier 2 leagues and their Top 5 comparators and being a free agent means that he's surely been well-scouted by them or their equivalents. He won't have to choose between $$ and PT. Offers with both will be forthcoming

Part of being in a good national team , which I think we are becoming, is we have players who are on good club teams but that alone no longer gets you into the Nats. He's useful bench player for PSV. Thats a nice career!

  9. And he did:
Parrott himself was happy that he scored again against Ajax.
'This was a very important match for us, it feels good to win. I came to AZ to score in these kinds of matches, so this is very nice.'

This was my thought at the beginning of the season. Not that Tillman leaving will open a direct spot for Ledezma, but that it would open the depth in central midfield up a bit. I still think it's pretty clear that this is where his future lies.

I hope Richie signs an extension this winter. He's still a young player, given his background, and it seems that they have believed in his talent before. I hope Ernie sees an opportunity to help him develop a lot more. Why wouldn't he?

Selling Tillman in the summer and giving Richie an opportunity to take some of those minutes makes a lot of sense.

Because of my fondness with player Richie since he started at Young PSV it's some kind of proudness you feel, when your "boy" gets a recognition like this spot.

Huh, had to look it up to confirm that is the Alen Halilovic of Barca fame. Good to see he's still kicking on, despite not living up to the next Messi hype.

It depends on the offer and how much Tillman wants to leave but at 22, in only his second season PSV and with sell-on and buyback clauses in rather expensive purchase contract, it doesn't make a great deal of of sense for PSV.

Keeping him for another season or even two so that he can be sold closer to his peak, footballing as well as financial does but that won't help Richie. He needs to establish himself as a starter or at least a rotator from August, something which PSV as well as he will be keenly aware of..

If we don't see a contract extension by end-January, then he'll be moving on.

Ledezma is showered with compliments by PSV fans, the yet again well-playing American promised his sick grandpa to score .
(unbelievable how crap the original AI? translation is).
PSV – FC Twente became a special evening for the entire Philips Stadium, as Peter Bosz's team let the Philips Stadium enjoy itself from the kick off whistle. It completely became a special evening for Richard Ledezma. Ledezma scored a gem of a goal and appeared at the press conference in the Philips Stadium after the 6-1 victory.

  18. For doubters still around about Richie it must be clear now that he's highly valued by PB as a selection member. You simply donot get subbed in in a high profile match when the team is trailing one goal against Brest, if you're not valued.

Yeah, Bosz is clearly comfortable with Ledezma, esp as an attacking option. Any word if Karsdorp had injury issues or if it was tactical? Also a good game for Pepi's continued prospects. The more LdJ doesn't score the better, obviously.

Since once of our famed pessimists (or ‘realist’ as he claimed) hasn’t been around much lately, allow me.

With that errant cross in the dying moments of the match Ledezma will likely find himself relegated back to the Jong team. Don’t visit their fan boards and avoid twitter!

It would probably be early in the month. I don't see Richie wanting to test the market if an extension is on the table, which Ernie has surely already decided on.

I hope so, now I gotta go look!

edit: announcer did say lazano, but the image on my phone is too small to see the jersey number. Let’s be honest, it may as well have been Ledezma.
