Another view of the goal: Ricardo Pepi’s game winner for PSV in their 2-1 win over AZ Alkmaar. 🚂🇺🇸[🎥: @PSV]pic.twitter.com/dMdIWPGtoh— USMNT Otaku 🇺🇸 (@USMNTOtaku) March 8, 2026
That would have been easy to muff. Pepi is quite good at getting shots on frame that trouble others. I like that he and Balo are quite different and allow the coaches to slide them into whichever opponents fit better. I could even see both up top occasionally and even Balo playing left winger with Pepi as CF. I wonder if that is a consideration since I think Balo drifts left a lot and think as a backup left wing and Wright also decent there it might allow Big Pat onto the team. I mean is Zendjas better at left winger than those two especially against WC opponents and not in Mexico where there is less defensive closing down.
Lol at Perisic like, 'man, this stupid corner flag. No, you know what? F this corner flag in particular '
Eredivisie check-in: 3 points won (or lost by NEC Nijmegen) ensures Champion's League play next year - 1 point won (or lost by FC Twente) guarantees UCL playoff qualification. 6 points won (or lost by Feyenoord) secure the title There are 8 matchdays left in the season...so these outcomes seem likely. PSV host NEC Nijmegen Saturday, so a tie = UCL qualification.
There's a lot to be said for conversion rate. So many players can get into position and just can't convert the ones they should. Some just can't get into position (those don't tend to make it in the big leagues). He can get into position - so that by consistently burying the ones he should, he gets a lot of goals. There's a lot to be said for that. Can he do it at the next level? I hope so. We are going to find out.
Leagues change obviously, but the Eredivisie is a funny one. He can score 35 goals, get a big $ transfer, and historical precedent could support him becoming World Player of the Year Marco Van Basten or world-historical bust Afonso Alves.
Folks knock him sure but I remember him scoring a hat trick against Man City and that was after they started splurging on players.
I agree that he had his moments, but that was definitely before Shinawatra sold City and they started spending. Gelson Fernandes and Stephen Ireland were the best City players in that game. They subbed on noted bum Nery Castillo for goodness sake!
PSV looks like a team just coasting to the title, even knowing the injuries, they have not really impressed me much.
That last year almost costed them the title, when a lead of over iirc 12 points crashed to a 10 point down situation.
PSVs GK is a sieve. He froze coming out on the first goal and got caught in no man’s land… let’s the second under his body then gets beaten near post on the last. They need to upgrade that position for sure this summer.

https://www.ed.nl/psv/psv-en-fulham...d-over-verkoop-pepi-voor-fors-bedrag~a1a9cc79 Confirmation from Rik Elfrink. He is claiming that bonuses could take the final price above €40m. Amazing piece of business by PSV, bravo Earnie
Fulham’s record signing, IIRC, was this past summer when they brought in the Brazilian winger — his name is slipping my mind, but it was something simple and familiar, like Jo or Jeff — for around €40 million. That means Pepi could potentially become their new record signing, and a fee like that would come with massive expectations.
