And scored the equalizer in stoppage time. All you have to do is call on Pepi and he'll deliver a goal.
The goal was higher quality than some of the descriptions I read. Very nice finish of a not that easy chance like that.
3 - Ricardo Pepi has scored three result-changing goals in second-half stoppage time in the UEFA Champions League, tying Cristiano Ronaldo and Sergio Agüero for the most in the history of the competition. Clutch. pic.twitter.com/EPzxzkVkeb— OptaJack⚽️ (@OptaJack) November 4, 2025
Yeah.... Pepi's done that in like 22 minutes and 3 matches. Those two schmucks..... it's taken 1000's of minutes and 100's of matches to do what Pepi's done. Take that CR7 and Kun Aguero. Suck it. You ain't squat.
How people find these obscure stats...I'll never know. But it's still a crazy stat. In the history of the CL (since 1992, unless this stat includes the European Champions Cup back to 1955--though I wouldn't expect this level of stat to be well-kept going back anywhere close to that far anyway) there have only been two players who've scored in added time to change the result of a game more than the 3 times Pepi has??? That's nuts if it's true.
I mean, I like watching Pepi score as much as anyone, and it will be great to see him fully back to game fitness, but it's November. I'm not that sad if he doesn't play 90 in league and Europe every week at this juncture. Bring him back as slowly as the can. Keep the mileage low and the engine clean.
So true! Abd what an awesome stat. Why start him if he keeps producing ad a supersub? Super Pippo Pepi!
That's one place he reminds me a bit of Dempsey. Always feels little bit bitchy/cranky out there - like, I f-ing dare you to not believe I can do this.
Yeah. Deuce didn't really have any special quality to his game except for sheer bloody-minded determination. That carried him a long, long way. Pepi is a far better footballer. His ceiling is higher. Much, much higher.
I don’t agree with this at all. Pepi would do very well to have the career Dempsey had. What do you imagine his ceiling to be? I'd love it if he's the American Inzaghi and becomes a starter for a top CL team - but I would be surprised if he matches Dempsey's status as arguably top 3 American non-goalie ever.
That's ridiculous as time goes on my respect for Dempsey grows he was a hell of a player and I still remember a few of his goals at Fulham that anyone playing in a US kit today would be jealous of.
Gonna pile on here. Dempsey was a great footballer. To suggest he was just determined is a really bad take.
His goal off the bench against Juventus was legendary. A chip outside of the box or near outside the box I forget with his first touch with his back to the goal..... Unreal goal.
