Ironically - or predictably, perhaps - Larin's last Liga season is not far different in production from LdJ's 21-22 Liga season, though Cyle had 2x minutes: LdJ. Barca. 21-22 937 mins, all comps. 10 starts. 7 goals. Larin: Mallorca: 24/25. 1866 mins all comps. 22 starts. 7 goals. (year before CL also had 7 goals in all comps, 200 mins) Larin has not exactly banging them in for Canada of late either. He's a hardworking, very decent player, but there is no way PSV sees a 30 yo Larin as "the future" and unless he really ups his scoring rate at PSV or Pepi has trouble getting back to fitness or really goes dry, I wouldn't expect him to take the slot long-term. Pepi certainly gets plenty of chances to show he's still got it.
Larin sounds like a realistic emergency backup who won't cost too much and can fill in ok if needed but not set any young players back. Earnie mining N America again. He has a knack for picking real contributors from the N American pool instead of just hyped players.
Larin's record is the profile of a guy who'll start ahead of a fully-fit Pepi in Eredivisie games, only. 4 goals and 1 assist in 8 CL or EL qualifiers but 1 goal and 1 assist in 8 CL or EL games. 31 goals and 7 assists in 83 SuperLig games but 18 goals and 7 assists in 86 La Liga games. He's a workhorse whose goal will be to run domestic opposition defences ragged, then bring Pepi off the bench to kill the game off. It's highly, highly unlikely that he'll start CL games ahead of Pepi unless he's carrying a knock. Once Plea returns, he'll become 3rd choice and they'll likely look to loan him out if they can't sell him.
Larin is like a Mustang GT. Decent muscle car with everyday drivability. Gets the job done while the Shelby GT (Pepi) is in the garage getting a tune up. The Shelby doesn’t need to be ran everyday, right now, But the Shelby’s performance, in short boosts, is far superior than the GT. Once the Shelby is fully tuned he will take on the most important races. Oh,,, Canada sucks and so does their boss, Mr Marsch who’s drank a little too much maple syrup in the last year. Always have to make that snide comment……
To remind people it doesnot matter which club you played for in the Eredivisie and a hint to Pepi's past and future: 'Former Groningen striker Strand Larsen wanted: offer of 57 million rejected'
Uhm, tell the Sevilla fans that. They can use a good laugh. At the moment Farioli at FC Porto is in awe of Luuk. He called his last performance for Porto a masterclass.
I remember doing decent in Turkey and just a few years ago, he surprised us all with scoring what like 10 goals in half a season in La Liga.
His 22-23 season was really strong all the way around - a couple of good goals for Canada, came in on fire a Valladolid (can't remember why they didn't keep him) but his last 2 season have been no where near as productive and he's 30. A perfectly good fill-in striker and a smart move in the wake of the injuries, but Pepi will get more than a fair shot. Of course, if Larin lights it up and Pepi does not, PSV/Bosz are not going to pick losing. It will be interesting to see how it plays out.

At 24 year of age and with 35 goals and 9 assists in 75 Eredivisie games as well as 9 goals in 19 BL1 games with Bochum last season, he's clearly not being scouted to make up the numbers. Having failed to make the grade at Monaco, he'll see PSV as a unique opportunity to strut his stuff for Top 5 big-boy clubs to have another look at. He'd be a real challenge to Pepi
In the mean time: Leading role for Luuk de Jong in Portuguese top match: striker scores first goal and helps FC Porto to the ltop of the table Luuk de Jong has quickly made himself immortal at FC Porto. The striker, who came over from PSV, opened the score after an hour of play in the top match against Sporting CP. Francesco Farioli's Porto won 1-2. Wonder if PSV now regrets not putting in a real effort to keep him on board
