Ricardo Pepi at PSV Eindhoven

Discussion in 'Yanks Abroad' started by EXALIFTIN, Jun 27, 2021.

  1. Peter Bosz prepared Kai Havertz and Florian Wirtz and can now do the same at PSV with Paul Wanner
PSV's good relationship with Bayern Munich is once again doing its job. After Malik Tillman and Adrian Fein, another talent from the youth academy of the German club comes to Eindhoven. Paul Wanner (19) has to add creativity in the 10 position, something Tillman has done for the past two years.

    More from Bosz ...

His {Plea's} rival Ricardo Pepi was sidelined for six months with an injury and made his comeback in the race for the Johan Cruyff Shield. He had to miss the matches against Sparta Rotterdam and FC Twente, but will he be available again on Saturday? "He's been out for a long time, so it's logical that he needs some rest now and then. We'll give him time. He'll train again today, and then we'll determine whether he'll be in the squad tomorrow. However, he definitely won't be in the starting lineup."

Meniscus repair...is like 6 months recovery and 3 months getting back to prior playing form assuming everything healed properly.

At this point as long as I don't hear about another procedure, things are on schedule.

That is absolutely untrue unless it is a cartilage stem cell replacement. Even in the old days when I had it, you were starting to run in 6-8 weeks.

I'm talking about getting back to his previous playing form as in return to pre-injury perfromance, durabiltiy, and recovery ability in that knee. He's dealing with swelling after intense high level activity which isn't abnormal at this point.

  6. Has Pepi shared information what precisely is the matter with his knee? I can't find any info apart from "knee injury".
If not, everything said about his knee simply is speculation.

I believe we were told at some point that Pepi’s knee had some fluid.

I still wonder if PSV are stalling now, waiting to see if Pepi generates an offer that can’t be refused.

Has to be an offer like 50 or 60 Million, he's the only CF left. De Jong is gone, Plea is out. They're actively looking to get an extra CF before deadline day.

The article says say "meniscus repair" but sometimes that could mean they still snip it. Based on the timeline it's seeming like he had meniscus repai surgery.

  10. Well, Pepi himself said nothing but that he had a successful op.
The article mentioning "a source", with suggested info couldnot be published overhere, because of the severe financial penalties involved.

This was Bosz, fairly recently ...

  12. Guess Pepi gave him permission to mention it, otherwise he would be in big trouble.

Pepi makes the bench today. PSV hosting Groningen.

  14. PSV is rumoured to have set their eyes on a Dutch international as replacement for Plea, but it's doubtful that that's going to materialize, because
PSV looks at Thijs Dallinga in the search for a new striker. This is reported by the Eindhovens Dagblad. The Eindhoven team is looking for a replacement after the serious injury of the Frenchman Alassane Pléa.
Thijs isnot going to play second fiddle in the orchestra, so for what it's worth ...

PSV are up 4-1. Esmir Bajraktarević came in at half for Man and scored 2 goals. PSV have made 3 changes, but no Pepi yet. Closing in on 80th min.

Just giving him a run out to see how his knee reacts would be my guess

  19. PSV is keeping an eye on an experienced striker from Real Mallorca
PSV has another striker in the picture to strengthen its own A-selection. It is a Canadian who plays at RCD Mallorca and has already had a long career in European club football: Cyle Larin (30). The club currently still has a lot of irons in the fire for one of the last vacancies for this summer, it seems. Secretly, there is still hope for Joshua Zirkzee, but other names are also in the picture. Who is Larin?

We know Larin well round these parts. Canadian international. Played at UConn and in MLS (Orlando) and in all 4 GC games - as well as a whole lot of Canadian games. Solid pro, hard worker, but not going to set anyone's world on fire at this point.

Nooooo....Larin can definitely take minutes from Pepi, he's better than Plea.

He's the type of guy that can eat in the Eredivisie based on how PSV is set up

In the champions league Pepi's higher quality outshines him.
