De Jong may be out for 1-2 games, but he could be out for a month.

He's a pro athlete, so I'd be inclined to the former but dead legs covers a wide spectrum

  2. We got a national team Nations League break and return for club football september 14th with the match against NEC.
They expect him on the pitch then, given the rest.

LdJ seems fine from all accounts. His contract is up this summer but he just gave an interview where he says he expects to extend and PSV will his final club. He said he could imagine playing another 3 years right now, but that it's also impossible to say and injuries can change things quickly. He mentioned his brother Seim who retired recently and how some things are much nicer retired from footie but that his brother also misses it.

Pepi came on for LdJ at 67. Game ended 2-0.

(Pepi likely benefiting from the mid-week Juve game and Bosz giving LdJ some rest.)

Good. The right call and I wish he'd done it a few times last year. Pepi better play his ass off so he gets more of these opportunities.

No goals in the first half. Tillman had one cleared off the line. Perisic and Junior on the right were absolutely dreadful. A half full of useless crosses to no one. Pepi did OK, but a big dearth of chances. Would love to see him with Bakayoko on the right. Maybe in the second half, unless LdJ also gets subbed on. Feels like they miss Ledezma at RB as well (he’s not even on the bench…picked up a knock?).

Report was he had a slight injury for last game, so seems like it carried over.

Nice. I assumed he scored to make it 6-1 but not the case. :p

Yep. Great set piece delivery from the left by Veerman, and Pepi rises nice from about twelve yards from goal and nicely heads it far post. Nice to get on the score sheet when you get the start. Hopefully that will give confidence for more rotation going forward.

Incidentally, Tillman was off at the half despite being PSV’s best player. Not sure if injury or tactical.

Pepi makes it 2! Karsdorp (huge upgrade over Junior as a halftime sub) centers it perfectly from the right into the box and Pepi slots it home nicely.

I feel like my suspicions are confirmed. Give him minutes, and he scores. He's been doing it on a per minute basis since '22-'23.

Good showing from Pepi. This PSV team is built to score in the Ered. Great to see Pepi take his opportunities. The next 6 -8 weeks they got a lot of ball to play and Bosz seems more comfortable rotating LdJ. As long as Pepi steps up when needed he should get a decent number of minutes before the end of the year.
